Legacy Activision Games

Hey everyone. These two TF games have now been added to the list of discontinued games on the Activision support website similar to the TF: DOTM game. I'm not sure if the servers have gone down yet for them since I don't have a working PS3 or PS4 anymore, but if they aren't, please let me know.

Wait, but not the original versions? Strange.

 

I'd assume they're not far from being shutdown down the line. If these games are getting pulled now, then the rest will probably be pulled sooner or later.

 

I can confirm that ROTF no longer connects... which is so weird, since i was playing multiplayer just last week...

 

What's strange is that XB1 & X360 FoC were both on the same Xbox server. Meaning that XB1 players could play with X360 players, vice versa for PlayStation. So if they shutdown the XB1 and PS4 servers, their last gen counterparts would also be affected. But apparently not.

Funnily enough, last couple days have been the most active I've seen the multiplayer servers on PS3 FOC in a WHILE... so looks like everyone's just jumping back to it while they have the chance

 

However even FOC'S servers randomly kick me out between matches...

 

Welp, all that DLC went to waste...

 

I played FoC multiplayer on PS3 a TON back in the day and absolutely loved it. I missed out on getting the PS4 port and have been kicking myself ever since. I recently started playing it on pc and very few still play it sadly. That really sucks that they're finally pulling servers on consoles. I wish so badly we could get a proper sequel. Or at the very least have the games get a proper remaster. It's not like the current toyline trilogy is called War for Cybertron nor is it the 10 year anniversary of the first game or anything...    

 

Literally can't use half of what i even purchased now. I want my f*cking money back...

Tested it on PC, still running. Even if I wasn't able to find a match due to no one playing it in 2020.

 

Welp, even though WFC or FoC hasn't been added to Activision's site, I'm afraid I bring some bad news.

I play the PC versions, and both of them tell me that the servers are gone. FoC just tells me "failed to sign in" and WFC just tells me "you need an account" even though I am already signed in. If this is really it for these games, it's been a long ride of fun.

 

This is why the game needed local split screen multiplayer, cause shit like this happens. Halo 2's servers shut down, but it's still fun to this day because you can play locally with 4 players, or with 16 players with system link.

 

Actually, I think one YouTuber discovered a hidden splitscreen mode for WFC, but it was really unfinished and glitchy. Presumably they didn't do it because how graphically demanding WFC was especially for consoles at the time. But I agree with you, HMS could've also taken another step to even add bots to their games to keep the multiplayer replay value going, but nope, enjoy waiting 20+ mins in your Escalation or TDM lobby or having unbalanced teams.

Funny how some reviewers said that exact thing, and it blatantly went over HMS heads.  

 

I think FOC would of benefited from local multiplayer more, with WFC it just seemed like High Moon just wanted to make a good singleplayer experience and overall gameplay. The multiplatinum feels like an after thought. FOC should of incorporated more multiplayer elements and split screen.
