I would be to. I want both tbh, more live action movies but SS also doing new designs/takes like more Cybertronian designs or like you said these kind of takes.
I mean... they have a dedicated Tigatron mould, I'd much rather get a retool of that in the vein of this one. Now that aside... holy crap does this guy look awesome. He's like Anti-Earthrise in that they're repurposed a mould for an application it wasn't meant for *and actually improved upon it*. I'm so disappointed Dinobot isn't in this film because based on Cheetor here, they could have done wonderful things with him (like maybe feathers?).
Kingdom Tigatron's existence is irrelevant. An RotB-style redo of that figure would be an entirely new tooling.
From the moment we saw SS I sarted to think BW characters sharing engineering with their Kingdom counterparts is good honestly. If something ain't broke, don't fix it. Just improve on it.
Now that we're starting to see control art come out I find it interesting that Primal seems to have hair/fur on parts of his body, but Cheetor seems to be all metal. I was wondering from the toy if that was going to be the case, and I think its lucky for the toy, since it doesn't have to bother modelling that kind of texturing at these scales. It makes me wish even more though that they hadn't used that brown on the legs, though, especially since they've got two shades of yellow elsewhere in the figure that I think works decently.
In the discussion of "Redeco of RotB Cheetor vs retool of Kingdom Tigatron", t is not remotely irrelevant because Kingdom Tigatron is a Voyager, and not one of the small ones that passes for a larger Deluxe. Whether the goal is to have Tigatron be the same size as Cheetor or be considerably larger influences the decision.
Honestly I think it's the head for me. It just doesn't feel like it fits the body and I can't say why. Airazor's head fits her body so I don't know why Cheetor looks so odd to me.
Airazor’s head has more sculpted/segmented geometric shapes on it, which is reminiscent of the multi-paneled designs of the live-action movie heads. Cheetor’s head is smoother and more simplified, especially with that G1 Prowl-esque chevron that the other movie designs lack. In order for his head to blend in with the other movie characters, it would need to have more curved segments placed on top of other curved segments on his face (a la Airazor) or more curved segments on his face with gaps in between filled with tech details (like the live-action Autobots that turn into cars).
Saying you want it to be Voyager-sized is fine. But it'll go through all the same production steps as any other Voyager. The existence of Kingdom Tigatron is not at all a production shortcut. It doesn't help things along any better than Legacy Inferno existing. Which is to say, not at all. The semantic issue is your liberal use of the word "retool". That's not how any of this stuff works.
