Try telling them one day they won't have those voices anymore, but no one wants to properly talk about that with a group sticking their fingers in their ears and acting like you are wrong and the VA's are immortal

 

As much as I wanted Gary Chalk to reprise Primal for the movie I AM glad that at the very least they got Ron Perlman giving another shot at Primal. He really has the right type of voice for him but bad voice direction really hampered the potential in Prime Wars. Thankfully we now have another chance of seeing it be done right this time around.

Perlman is great, his performance in POTP was shit because that whole show was shit. He’s an incredible VA whose done numerous great characters over the years and I’m sure he’ll do great as Primal in this film.

Would’ve preferred Gary Chalk back, though, but this is a good consolation prize.

 

This. I honestly never thought we would get Chalk. Hollywood always seems to want at least some big names to put on the marquee and with lesser name faces as the main humans, you knew it would have to be the voice actors. Chalk IS Primal, but Perlman is the next best thing!
Besides, if anything kills this movie, (and I hope nothing does) it'll be the writing or directing, not the VA.

Seems like Lorenzo is having his way with celebrity casting. Great actor though!

 

I’m just disappointed that they keep killing their chances to have Peter Cullen and Garry Chalk interact as both Optimuses. This is, what, the third time now?

 

Pretty sure Perlman costs more than Chalk.

 

Nobody is saying that. What is being said is people want those iconic voices together for this one movie.
Everyone is well aware that the originals will not be available forever, and new voice actors will need to be found.That is a given.
However, this movie was an opportunity to have all those iconic voices together as a nod to the actors and fans.

I\'m gonna have to be frank, Ron Perlman is great but the reason I want the original cast to be mostly back is because they want to return as well and so does everyone else, it\'s just not gonna be the same, because you don't know when they'll ever get the chance again, HOWEVER looking over some these POTP clips, I think he can pull off the voice fairly well, hopefully with better direction than machinima and David Kaye being able to voice Megatron, things may still be pretty good,let’s just hope they cast him though.

 

Ron Perlman is a pretty great voice actor, he has done some pretty great voice work like Slade from Teen Titans. However, it is a bummer to not have Garry Chalk reprise his role of Primal. It would've been a great thing to see Chalk return to the role after 20 years. Peter Cullen came back as Optimus after 20 years and most in the fanbase celebrated. This could've been a similar moment for us BW fans and even UT fans to a degree. I do wish Perlman all the best though.

 

Old, new voices, etc, stuff aside, it really would have been brilliant if we could have got Cullen and Chalk together for this movie. That on it's own would have been a highlight of the Knightverse .

Saying that, Pearlman could turn out pretty good as an older version of Primal.

 

Not Chalk, but Perlman\'s the next best choice.

If the VA director actually gives a crap about the robot characters emoting like real things here, then it should be totally fine. VA direct like Bumblebee did with its speaking characters, not like the Quintilogy\'s attempt at it in most cases.
