It's only a question of bad characterisation IMHO. I don't dislike him, nor do I like him.

I loved Rodimus as a kid, but I feel his insecurities are what really did him in. He was too busy seeing himself in prime's shadow to do much.

seriously, they made roddy that way to validate magnus. otherwise, magnus wouldve been pretty redundant.

As a kid I remembering being happy to see Prime show up again and loved the Rebirth 3 parter (mainly because of all the new characters, especially Six-shot, Scorponok and Fort Max). I was pretty disapointed that the series ended there.

Anyways, I never really disliked Rodimus. As has been stated, he's an interesting character with potential. He's also got the touch, yeah, he's got the power.

I had this great analogy comparing Rodimus Prime and Optimus Prime to different forms of sex, but I have chosen not to post it.

Giving any transformer the matrix of leadership at such a young, immature age would have resulted in craptastic results, al la Rodimus Prime. He was young and reckless, but had potential in the future. That being said, he [/I]did turn into a camper van, a flaming camper van.

It wasn't his unsureness of himself I didn't like, it was his uncaring attitude. "Paradron blew up? Who cares, Cybertron's better anyway." "We're gonna run out of air, Spike and Daniel can either suffocate or smother ::shrugs::"

I've always loved Rodimus. He's always been one of my favorite characters.

For any Rodimus fans please check out my Rodimus fanfic set right after the movie. It's called "How Can I Say I'm Sorry?" and it's in the fanfic section of the message boards. It's on the second page now. Or the address should be:

I have seen all 42 eps. of Masterforce, subbed by TV Nihon, and never once was that mentioned. Maybe It was in that god awful startv crap. Which should be put into a nuclear bomb, blown up, and then should be sent into the pits of hell to be with Satin and his lover, Saddam Hussein.

    Now to the Rodimus part.

I was always a fan of Rodimus Prime/Convoy. I think his charactor could have been given more depth, not only in the US show, but in Headmasters. Rodimus Convoy was becomming a good leader, then Seibertron blows up, and he Char and Blurr leave. WTF. I wish RC would have made some apperences in later episodes/ shows.

I always thought that Rodimus was mostly overlooked and underappreciated for his time. He had all the makings of being a rich protagonist with a great story, and in some ways was ahead of his time. (Look at today's stuff, uncertain heroes are the norm.)

His rise and growth from fearful punk kid to great Autobot leader would've made a great story, and instead, we get shafted because of "our reverence" for the allmighty Optimus.

And of course when War Within comes along and shows how Optimus wasn't exactly fantastic as leader when he first signed on - or was signed on by the Council - there's no problem.

    Grr.

I would've liked Rodimus better if his toy counterpart hadn't sucked so horribly bad. He looked really cool in the movie, and then I saw the toy in stores and thought what the @#$% is this $#@%???

Just proves that painting flames on an RV isn't going to help it suck any less.

When the Commemorative Rodimus was released, I found one on deep discount for only $7 and bought it. And then I got home and remembered why I didn't buy it 20 years ago: "Oh, yeah! It sucks!"

Energon Rodimus was pretty cool, although I would've liked to have had a larger scale toy in the Cybertron Leader Class size.

I'd love to see a repaint of Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron as Rodimus, seeing that would've been a HUGE improvement over an RV and closer to Hot Rod's original form prior to being transformed by Matrix power.
