I know that alot of people don't like Rodimus because he isn't as great as Optimus, but what was Optimus like when he first commanded, or got the matrix. Kup said Optimus was just like Rodimus, acted the same way. Also Optimus was a few million years old. Anyway I think hot rod had alot more military strategy knowledge at a young age more then Orion Pax did because there was no war when Optimus was Orion Pax. So if Rodimus had a few million years under his belt he would be amazing.
*shrugs* Rodimus has always been my favorite character. He had so much potential that never got explored in the show. Out
I've never really liked Rodimus or Hot Rod that much, but I totally agree. I think the main beef people have with Rodimus is that "He's not Optimus Prime". I really wish G1 had've continued for awhile with Rodimus as leader...they totally could have brought Optimus Prime back as an avatar for Rodimus to travel into the matrix to to get advice like he did earlier on in season 3...that would have made the kids and soccer moms happy that Optimus wasn't out of the picture, plus it would have been fresh and new...meh, just my $.2
I love Roddy. He is far and away my favorite character from G1. I still consider it a real pity that he only got one season to shine. I do like Grimlock_13's idea; that would have been a very good way to go about it.
Personaly I think Rodimus would have worked out well if he had only have gotten more time to shine. My opinion is that Energon Rodimus is what Rodimus Prime would have become after having more experience.
Well said man, that bot was the one the matrix choose, not to mention I loved his personality, blunt, to the point and real,(as to how unsure of him self he was) didn't second gess him self infront of the troops and such.
Hmmm. After watching all 98 Generation One episodes borrowed from my friend, I think that Rodimus Prime should've gotten more TV time and had a few more couple of episodes. maybe up to about 20 more episodes so then people would know grow into him, just like what Grimlock 13 and Switchblade said. Then we get to Return of Optimus Prime. And maybe we should have stuck with the Transformers: The Headmasters. Not the Rebirth. Not trying to be racist to Nebulons or anything. Also, I think I've said this before. But in SuperGod Masterforce, they do make a mention of Optimus Prime supposed to binary bond with Hi-Q(Yes, our Hi-Q)in the very last episode.
I've always been a fan of Rodimus Prime too. I grew up watching the movie all the time. I wish there had been a little more of the show. A real season 4 without TRoOP would have been awsome. He finally accepted his role as Prime right before TROOP happened too. Really, he was one of the few G1 characters that actually had some character development. It's a shame we didn't get to see him become the great leader that he could have been.
Energon Rodimus would have been a good mature G1 Rodimus, BUT for the way the Energon story was interpreted.... From what I understand, he "bravely fled" Cybertron with his troops while the rest of the Autobots fought the war. That simply did not make sense (one of many things in the Armada / Energon universe). It's like saying a draft dodger is a hero. Even though Furman didn't like G1 Rodimus, he did get some pretty good screen time in the UK comics. Also, Rodimus did ultimately win the war (at the price of an Autobot civil war afterwards).
Rodimus Prime got the Hasbro SHAFT! So much potential and the stories they could have written around him.... What a waste. That's why I switched to the Japanese story, then my own before they started bringing bots back from the dead. Stupid Hasbro! Except for the first two seasons of Beast Wars when they let great writers run the show, they've done everything in their power to RUIN The Transformers.
Yes Rodimus should have been portayed better since he did have so much war experience as Hot Rod but what was he like when he was hot Rod durring all that time. A show-off who lept before he looked. Then all of the sudden he's leader. So yeah he had BIG shoes to fill. And Magnus should have gotten over himself and "handled it" to help the new leader along. It didn't help that Prime came back and thanked Rodimus for holding the Matrix for him. Tho now that I think about it, he was never portrayed as really wanting to be a leader so I don't think it really matters. Hot Rod is, in a sense, the Cybertronian Peter Pan.
I like the fact Rodimus was a flawed character, Optimus was to unidimentional for me to be able to appreciate. I do wish there was more of the "hot-headed" mindset in Rodimus, as referred to in his Tech-specs. The Movie Rod and Cartoon Rod seem completely different with regards to confidence, I guess it doesn't help when the character ended up being more fixated with OP than the complaining fans. I get the idea that after a few series 3 episodes, Ultra Magnus became more of a focus for Autobot authority. UM could seemingly act independant of Roddy, but not so much the other way round.
wha? opie never had to go thru no wishy washy phase. when they gave him the matrix he was like: "gimme that bitch! yeah, whos got the touch now?!" uh-oh, fanart idea.
Yeah that is true, but then like right before Optimus returns he realizes its his burden. I think he should have gotten another season to show maybe how he becomes a great leader or something instead of the rebirth which I pretend NEVER took place.
Look, he turned into a freaking Winnebago. He deserved everything he got, I'm just sorry nobody blew him up.
