Got to read an early copy thanks to my editor at Deadshirt.net. He's letting me share with you guys.

This issue is definitely the best of Barber, when he's firing on all cylinders. The story is great, it ties in with earlier issues, has some sublime continuity porn, fun culture-clash wordplay, the return of Susan Journeyer, and brings this little starting mini-arc to an end.

Prowl's plan goes off without a hitch for once, which restores some much-needed teeth to the character. Of course he didn't clue the Autobots in to any of it, which is his usual interpersonal shortsightedness, but Prime isn't quite ready to throttle him yet.

There is some truly great, next-level artwork from Griffith here. A vaguely Tron-y sequence of a bot invading a computer network, an homage panel to the TFTM poster, and the final reveal page are all highlights of his work. I'm also enjoying his faces more than usual.

SPOILERS because a lot of what I enjoyed about this issue were the payoffs and stuff for fans. Feel free to ask any questions (issue will be out quite soon though).

Prowl suckers all of the Autobots and Soundwave both. The Constructicons are totally loyal to him, and they get a sweet black paint job like Jazz at the end (and combine!) He infiltrates the facility by setting up the big fight outside (which actually gets Kup injured, and sends Arcee on a bit of a guilt trip). He points his gun at Jazz just to "get his attention." He urges him not to grab Trion and go yet, as Trion has only crashed for a few months, and the mind-bomb and the nano-missiles took years of development.

Jazz' stealth coating protects him from the human mind bomb, but Prowl is hit by it and goes down. But this was all part of his plan, as he somehow rides it back to its source and seizes control of all the humans' hardware. Jazz and Prowl are "captured" by Soundwave, who is extremely wary of Prowl, but goes out of his way to avoid harming Jazz. Guess he really is a peacenik now. Soundwave has Jazz lugging Prowl to prison when suddenly all the tanks and hovercraft fly around the corner and knock Soundwave out.

Prowl finds an area of the system that he can't access, but resolves to ask "someone who knows" about it. We don't know who this is yet. He thoughtfully reprograms all of the remaining nano-missiles and destroys the Decepticon spacecraft.

The result is a complete Autobot victory: Decepticons routed and the Earth base destroyed. Trion is rescued and conscious, though far from well. Galvatron proves himself no one's fool by seizing the opportunity to assassinate General Daniel Witwicky (for using the mind-bomb on him) and blame it on Prowl. Marissa arrives at the scene, incensed, and reveals that Galvatron has lucked out; she is aware of Prowl's pre-existing grudge against Spike and considers it a plausible story. Soundwave is yet unaware of Galvatron's deception.

Thundercracker adorably freaks out at the idea that Buster could be harmed by a stray shell so he turns tail from the battle. He trips and skids down a cliff, protecting Buster all the while, and stumbles into our last-panel reveal: unbeknownst to any of the Autobots or Decepticons, the EDC has cloned Ramjet and Thrust, who if you'll remember were both abandoned on Earth as dead bodies. And by "cloned," I don't mean "oh Ramjet and Thrust are back alive," I mean, cloned at least 50 times each, making the Machination look like a bunch of small-timers.

And Thundercracker is not exactly happy about this...

Damn, can't wait for all my comics to be in.

This sounds awesome. Especially the big reveal Thundercracker finds.

You know this series doesn't when I'm just now realizing that RiD had an issue #31. I might drop this for TMNT.

But I will say this, the last thing, that I find surprising. Small things that we forget about.

Anguirus, I really think you shouldn't take advantage of getting issues early for review purposes to post spoilers like that. =/

^ The spoilers were relevant in context and appropriately marked. I got an ok from my editor. My review will be posted early Wednesday morning. Early reviews have been posted on TFW in the past.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy the review. I'll hold more back in future if people found the spoiler text too tempting.

There's a lot left to enjoy here. I didn't reproduce a single one-liner in an issue that's pretty filled with them (nearly all funny).

This is some of Barber's best work, only held back by the implausibility of the overall arc. In 20/20 hindsight the story would have been better served told linearly and allowed to build, rather than dipping into flashback and employing so much in medias res.

Well there's that at least. To bad we won't see what happens next until October. Since #33 takes us back to Cybertron for the return of Wheeljack. :D

And since this is the second to last comic release for the month, we should expect the solicitations for November tomorrow, and with it, a taste of what's to come next.

I've no problem with spoilers being posted, to be honest the only reason I read them is because RID hasn't been doing much for me lately so thought "eh, what the hell", if anything I'm now actually looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.
But yeah, it really does go without saying: Spoiler Tags = Read at your own risk.

[Off Topic]IDW's TMNT has been brilliant in my opinion, my favourite series after MTMTE for sure. Definitely worth giving it a shot.[/Off Topic]

I will resist the temptation to read the spoilers. This is the last of the three issues in which Barber has to wow me lest I drop RID. The last one was pretty good, this sounds promising, RID might be redeemed to me yet.

To echo others comments, using early access privileges to post entire spoilers on a forum, tagged or not, pre release is rather... impolite?

Why are people moaning about blacked out spoilers? No self control? Just don't read 'em, folks...

Its not a lack of self control, its a question of ethics by the person who has privileged access to pre-release copies. They have access to them for the purpose of providing a timely review of the issue, not for posting the synopsis of the entire issue online, before its even available to purchase.

IMHO (and quite possibly just mine) its poor form.

    Agreed!

A couple people have complained about the synopsis, so I will definitely take that to heart. Everything will be left up for now, if only to chronicle my mea culpa and for the posters who have actually appreciated it. There is less than 24 hours to go before this issue is sold, anyway.

I do think people had a lot of justified fears where RiD was going, so perhaps that was my way of showing that hey, it might be pretty on-track now. But I could have found a different way. Thanks to all who have commented! :)

The review on Tformers.com seems to disagree, they gave it a 5/10.
