I was gonna hold off on unveiling this, but you guys have been pretty good. This guy only took a couple hours, so that was a nice change of pace. Roadbuster's head is too small for this body, so I had to explode it a little. The flash destroyed a lot of the color, so you probably can't tell it looks like he's wearing a neon vest from the 80's. I have to paint his whole chest and ear pumpkin orange, his hip armors brown, the sculpting and Magnus parts of his head brown. I'm also going to sculpt a collar around the front of his neck because I just can't tell where his face ends and his neck begins and the gap needs to be covered. Added pictures. Selling UM, so I wanted to get a comparison shot. I was originally going to put the ammo drum behind his right shoulder, but it sticks out pretty far and makes him more back heavy than putting it on his lower back, it also restricts movement on his arm. It will be easier to put it on his lower back anyway, but it looks pretty good on his shoulder, too...
Dope. That mold does scream Roadbuster to me, especially when they did a redeco in those colors. Just wish they would've remolded the head or colored it to match the rest of the figure.
I'm glad someone finally jumped on this, I have seen that ever since the repaint was announced just don't have the skills to pull it off, but yours is looking sweet as hell
Yes, I'm going to paint when I finalize it. He could hold Sigma 6 guns. You're thinking of that Duke everybody's been using? I actually bought Vulcan Raven because I like the ammo drum, and I saw someone used it with his Hardhead custom. It looks really good.
Pictures updated. Almost done. I added magnets to hold the ammo drum to his back and kneepads, magnets to hold the gun on his shoulder and on the vehicle. I also made him a collar to hide the weirdness in his neck. I molded the vulcan handle to fit in his hand and molded the stock to fit in his elbow for a custom fit. Last step is to use some brown and pumpkin paint.
Finished. Painting was a little annoying, but good experience. Decided to shave off all his original neck and sculpt him a proper chin. Would've been a lot easier and cleaner if his head was removable (which is why we'll never get a kit for this figure).
awesome job.. really impressed by the paint job.. almost looks factor made.. like that is actually orange plastic.. love the gun!
Lemme check the pictures to refresh my memory. Well, I used G1 Roadbuster's crotch for the crotch, split his chest in half for the chest, used the shoulder armor for the hip armor, sanded off Magnus' face and put Roadbuster's face over it, split the horns in half and put them on the sides. Then I used standard Tamiya brown and orange paint mixed with a little white and red to get the right tints and painted the applicable areas. I use Aves Fixit sculpt to cement everything in place and sculpt some head details.
Love it. What head did you use? I was considering doing this but didn't have any ideas for a head sculpt.
