Good evening, I hope everyone is well. When I picked up a used Genarations Roadbuster with some missing weapons I felt a bit disappointed with him overall having brought Whirl the week before and being pretty chuffed. Of course you cant have one without the other and getting the original G1 versions in good nick with all the weapons/parts was never gonna happen with my budget so these were my only options. I found a hardly ever displayed him because of this so looked at the original and thought how can I beef him up a bit as to me he has always come across as the Wreckers heavy support character so should be a bit bulkier to support big guns and his included arsenal. All the kit I've designed & built for him is easily removable in case I want to restore him to former state and have all been made from leftover spare parts. I used inspiration from his g1 toy (always looked at Roadbuster as a land based Jetfire with all the funky accessories) the comics including marvel UK and IDW. The kit consists of shoulders, wrist guards, back/ammo pack, and bigger feet to support everything as his standard feet look like they have been run over by a steamroller! Poor chap. Plus I was fortunate to pick up Bludgeon on Ebay with the unique toys upgrade kit and as I never intend to give him guns I thought Roadbuster would benefit from them instead, the shoulder cannon reminds me of the Pathblaster his uses in time wars and the rifle is a pretty close match to what he should have.
When mixing the paints I couldn't get the colour dead on matching so I used a little over the existing areas on the bot to match it all in better also changes a few bits of colour around to more match the g1 like the green around the inner shoulders and back
Then here are a few with the gang the last pics are with more IDW Wreckers but it does get a little crowded lol.
Thanks, I'm considering painting the Bludgeon guns green to go with his overall look but they have so many nice little details on them already from unique toys I dont really want to ruin them at the same time.
Love the work! The problem with Roadbuster is he has 2 iconic designs, The classic design from the old g1 stuff and the Nick Roach hulk style design.
That's the thing I wanted something between the fairly beefy g1 model and the massive hulking IDW version and the modern Hasbro just didn't scratch that itch for me. I do like the mmc but think he would just be too big for my scale unless I went all out IDW masterpiece. I just love the wreckers in general with all there appearances in the comics.
I know he never deserved a such horrible fate, better to go out in a blaze of glory being a Wrecker. It was sad his other fate in UK marvel time wars when he blew half of Galvatrons head off with that experimentex cannon which then blew up from the feed back, but then that was a harsh chapter for the Wreckers lot of causaltys. Thanks for the kind comments sorry what's RID stand for? Not familiar with that one.
He’s referring to the Robots In Disguise 2001/Car Robots Fire Convoy you used. Also Great job on Roadbuster! He always needed more bulk.
Yeah that RID prime toy and Ultra magnus never really did gel with me, I took a dip in that era but growing up with g1 in the 80s that's where I'm at. Plus they were gifts from an ex so didn't mean that much to me. Dont worry they have gone to good use, managed to make Emirate Xarron, Fortress maximus and many bits have gone into other customs, also a Nightbeat is on the cards from them too. Did always wonder what that line era was Thanks for the nice comments mate
