I purchased some Road bots a few weeks back and noticed I haven't heard much about them on here. I got a supra a hummer a lambo and ford gt. The robot modes are very cool, and the one I got are 1:32 about the size of the alternators, though they make bigger ones. I've named them , and I'll probably repro label them into autobots and decepticons once I get time. The lime green supra is Driftwynd, the Orange lambo is Roadflair, the hummer is Slamdance, and the ford gt is Vertigo. Anyone else have these and like them?
Great use of roadbots for customs. I have to admit, that Toyota suits the Grimlock's character more than Mustang.
I got the 1:32 H3. The joints actually crumbled to pieces when I tried to transform it. It's in the garbage now.
One of these days I will probably get around to customizing the Land Rover. I was thinking of calling him Gridlock though.
I've got the 1/32 Ford GT. Vehicle mode goes perfectly with a lot of the movie deluxes. I just need to finish repainting him.
I like Roadbots, despite their flaws, but I think the main impediment for this toyline is how impossible it is to find a place to buy them! There are very few online sellers, and frankly their distribution in North America sucks. I suspect that Happywell sells each model by the case, rather than in case assortments, which probably makes sellers less likely to purchase them. Any time I've seen them at retail, they've all been the same model. I have the 1/35 Ford GT and the Pajero (which is in the process of an extensive Trailbreaker kitbash). I like them quite a bit, though the parts-formy nature of them always gets me thinking about how I can kitbash them to transform normally. I haven't had any QC issues at all. I also have the 1/18 Hummer, Lamborghini, and Toyota Landcruiser (which serves as my Alt/MP Grimlock... how could it not?). I think some of them work better than others, they're all pretty well-made. I think the assembly is cheapest on the Landcruiser, though I also like him best due to the integrity of his design (no parts-forming). I'm keeping the Hummer for future kitbashing, but if anyone's interested, I'd like to sell my 1:18 Lamborghini. zmog
Wow, that Grimlock looks awesome! I'd have loved that as an Alt. On topic, I always consider buying Roadbots (I actually dig smaller ones) but never get around to it Anyone got more tempting pics?
I bought the 1:32 Pajero. Excellent alt mode, of course, since that seems to be the main purpose of this line. Robot mode's nothing flash, but it's got a decent look and holds together well. Great choice of weapons, as well. The parts-former nature is a bit annoying, but it's fairly minimised. The scale's a bit annoying, as it seems a bit small to go with anything I've got. Such is life, though, and it's not like scale is a strong point of even the proper Transformers toyline. The toy was great value for money, though, coming in at less than half the price of a deluxe TF.
I should probably stress/agree that the vehicle modes are the strongest for the line, across the board.
Wow, those are Great! Did you custom them yourself? Man, now I want I want I want! Amazon, Google, here I come...
ebay is where I got mine. I paid like 38 dollars shipped for 4 of them. Also that Grimlock is awesome. I may have to attempt my first kitbash....
