I'm sure the purple will be a lot more vibrant in the film

 

Especially since it will be reflecting light off of the parts. I think it will also probably have more purple just they showed this art since this was the concept art approved for the movie & character (just isn't the final design)

I'm glad I don't design TF characters for movies, cause it's a very hard thing to do sometimes.

I get what your saying but I feel like they're more color on her compared to most Bayverse Decepticons. Even with the little purple that's on there right now (which I think there will be more). And honestly looks more complete and less like she's gonna fall apart maybe.

 

If I had to guess they'll reveal the toys and either in a FFF or TF Tuesdays thing or maybe IGN, and that it really. But I would love something else like official concept art to be put out for some of the characters. Since again it will be no secret what most of them look like once the toys are revealed. But I think most info will be kept secret since it doesn't come out for another year.

 

If she does have that in the final design it would be nice. I don't mind if she doesn't look G1.

 

I don’t really see why people hate characters having inhuman features in the movies. Of all the things they’ve done to make characters look nothing like they’re supposed to, I’m far more concerned with giving characters completely unrecognizable colors, personalities, and design features. When you give a character features to make them look less human but you still keep them recognizable, it just makes them look more unique.

 

The problem is the movies keep going back and forth between extremes. Initially, the movies drifted towards simply being aliens that were completely inhuman looking. Then they swung back HARD and suddenly the robots were clearly designed to look like humans first and then had the vehicle kibble piled on regardless of if it made sense or not.

In Nightbird's case, the original G1 design really is pretty generic. The only really distinctive details she has is the purple belt with yellow star and diamonds and the complete lack of a defined neck.

If anything, the head looks more like Crankcase from DOTM wearing some kind of masked helmet. Specifically because of the stacked quad eyeholes.


Meanwhile, Shatter got a fucking amazing face:

Just put a mask on this, fix the colors, and put it inside a hood, and BOOM you would have a PERFECT Nightbird head. Especially if she got a close up like this and looked pissed as a call back to the ending shot of her only episode:


The problem with giving something based on G1 Nightbird a completely different head is...there wasn't exactly a lot of stuff to make her recognizable to begin with. Except, ironically enough, her head and face since her head being rounded automatically made her stand out from virtually every other robot character in G1.

 

Pretty sure Nightbirds final look in the trailer will be pleasing.

 

From what I’ve seen and can guess, I honestly think she will probably retain that smoother look for the head design judging by 1) the fact that the storyboard art that seems to give her some sort of streamlined battle-mask and 2) Laszlo’s mockup gives her a “dome-like” head and faceplate covering the mouth. I sense there’s some sort of discrepancy between the storyboards and the concept art, but that’s more just me speculating.

For what it’s worth, let’s not forget Shatter’s head originally looked like Scott Lang on crack. Things are always subject to change, which could be especially true now with the movie being over a year away from release.

 

She is 1 extra antenna away from having an Ant-Man helmet.

I also doubt she will look 100% like this in the film I feel that just this design was approved as what Nightbird will look close to but not final CGI model. For example BBM Prime and his concept art are similar but they are a bit of differences.


Or even how the concept art/render art of Bumblebee's VW form had door wings compared to the CGI model


Or even Jolt's head (using the ROTF and the SS figure's heads).

Exactly, he has the valid and reasonable points, but come on, it's just a fanmade mockup of the real concept.

 

It would be cool if her mask is similar to a plague doctor's mask, giving her a "birdy" feel.

Nightbird probably has a lot of silver on her because of the reflection of the car parts (again, it's a fanmade concept).
I'm sure Battletrap won't have an almost-completely silver robot mode. It also looks like the engine will form his head.

 

Honestly, I figured that Nightbird would have a design and vibe similar to Tali from Mass Effect.

 

i don't think he is judging the mockup just the fact that they are actually giving her dreads in the film and bugs

 

Yeah, anything like concept art will come from Paramount or Steven Caple Jr though, or from the artists once Paramount gives the go ahead.

 

I don't actually mind if the Terrorcons have the Bayverse aesthetic, after all they're described as "Unicronian" and thus have to look like something menacing.
(IIRC Delzord said the Terrorcons will bring horror elements to the film)
