The message about the delay was delayed. Wow. And as already stated by SilverOptimus, the deadline for renewing that license is now going to be before ROTB releases. All the crap for ROTB with the product lines will be grandfathered in, but the inability to even turn out a film in under three years between installments at this point and the fact for the last film, Hasbro literally had to step in for Paramount just to get Bumblebee done? There really isn't a good argument for staying with Paramount once that 2022 deadline comes up, since IIRC Hasbro's been kind of pissed at Paramount over this shit since AoE killing everybody offscreen nearly ten years ago. It would have been far better to just shoot for a closer release on theatres and streaming to make money and get the name out, since that way Hasbro can push product sooner and money made for what is really a dying company with Paramount. As it is, I have to wonder if Hasbro was even consulted about the delay as I doubt they'd be angry about it if they'd actually had a contributing argument for it. Yes, it wouldn't make as much money, but making money of any kind to stay in the black would be a hell of a lot better than taking the greedy route and basically starving to death before you can actually reach the point of making money. And that includes making the rights holders happy and right now, Paramount's not doing that. They could still win the battle, but lose the war and the rights so to speak.
