If the rumors were true, then the TFCU itself not only isn't entirely dead, but they're trying a different strategy by expanding to have different sub-continuities so they could just make movies of any aesthetic (as opposed to the utterly dumb 'historical time piece' settings like that GOD AWFUL looking WWII...thing...we saw at least reached concept art stage). However, assuming that's true, then it's still a dumb concept because, among other numerous reasons, TLK would be six years old by the time ROTB now comes out. Absolutely no hype would be derived from trying to connect it to a film generally everybody agrees was shit and largely forgot anyway. Its still a steaming shitpile that got the Lorenzo seal of approval on it. TLK happened. If he actually gave a shit then everything he says wouldn't be rapidly changing depending on the context of what people liked and didn't like about the previous films. The only real work he does is secure financing which is likely the reason he even remains in an executive producer role on Transformers.
