The running in the Cybertron scene was realistic. Optimus movement was very smooth in Bumblebee.

In The Last Knight, Optimus running scene movement didn't look as good.

This is pretty cool, nicely capture her assassin/ninja role. It'll also please some g1 folks since it resembles her g1 counterpart

    ...but

What the fuck? Why does a supposedly sleek ninja character have cardboards for legs??

Optimus was an exception. But the autobots all were not what I'm use to. The designs work for a video game. Like war for cybertron. Or TF prime.

The designs to me were simply the animated 80s TF film, but in 3D environment. Very downgraded and simple.

They did look like toys actually. The exceptions were BB, Optimus, Drop kick, Blitzwing and Shatter.

It's a fictional character fighting a fictional war in a fictional metal planet.
It was never realistic to begin with.

I hope this film takes advantage of it's 90s setting and give us a kickass soundtrack

There better some Soundgarden or Green Day or other 90s bands and even rappers

It's a shame we won't be getting anymore of Dylan O'Brien as Bumblebee since it seems likely that he'll still be a mute, he did a good job with the few lines he had

This is less important but with the films Bumblebee has changed his look in every film so I'm kind of surprised that Bumblebee isn't a 1993 Camaro in the film as a way to make it clear it's the 90s, but I can see why they didn't cause the 93-02 Camaro isn't looked at fondly by many, I'm fine with the 77 Camaro though

Transformers don't exist. But the imagination and creativity that the original trilogy pushed for to blend in with our current world was spot on. The classic designs were an inspiration for the artists. The protoforms and their cybertron world were the most impressive concept in sci do cinema.

    "Silly scene"? "Not realistic"? Really?

"Imagination and creativity in Bayformers? Metallic skeletons that don't look like they can transform? Blending as in being in every single bit of human history?

I can only use that J Jonah Jameson meme so much.

    Bayfan standards can be weird.

Listen, I get what you mean by the BB prologue designs being the same old designs we've seen, but I would hardly describe the Cybertron seen in 1, 3 and 5 as "creative" it was just stuff and a weird honey comb pattern and moss(!?) it wasn't anything that the human eye could look at and go "ah this is a fallen society, torn apart by war..." it was just some unreal engine tech demo showcase map02_(FINAL)

The moss was a desperate attempt to fit the series as one story. That was a bad decision. But my impression when I first saw cybertron in 3, was that it had enough potential to kick off a cybertron centered film. I liked the honey comb design. Personally.

Its visually impressive for sure, but that's all it is: all style and very little substance. The impressive CGI work doesn't somehow make up for everything those movies lack. If you removed the spectacle element and CGI I imagine you'd have very little to offer these films in the way of compliments, because that's quite literally their only saving grace besides the nostalgia factor and maybe the score.

That said, what you posted isn't any more 'realistic' than the designs in BB, or even something like this:

In fact you could argue a design like the above is even more grounded in reality because of how little cheating is involved when he transforms.

For the people who just prefer the look from the Bay films: Guys, its okay if you just PREFER how those bots look, you're totally allowed to hold that opinion... but for the love of all that is holy please stop trying to make your preference sound like it's based on anything logical. You just prefer the Bayverse aesthetic, not because they're somehow more 'realistic'. :lol

This look like it can transform?

Can moss grow in the open void of space?

Plus, Cybertron seemed to change sizes between movies.

I don't even dislike the honeycomb-like design from DOTM but the movies opening scene on Cybertron is so unbearably bland and doesn't really include any Transformers-like elements except for the existence of giant robots. No one transforms, there's no color to break things up it's just.. giant robots doing shit, the only thing tying it to Transformers is Peter Cullen's opening words... that's it. When taken out of its original context and viewed on its own it may as well be the opening sequence for any other shallow Hollywood blockbuster.

The same can't be said for Bumblebee's opening, and I don't think I've said it enough but as much as I can appreciate BB's opening it's still flawed, and definitely could've been even better. I suppose after 10+ years of absolute garbage getting a bit of fanservice is like a breath of fresh air, even if it's arguably just as shallow.
