I suppose the difference there is SW is (so far) a single continuity with a single version of those characters, whereas there are multiple TF continuities with different teams of voice actors so I guess directors and casting agents etc. wouldn't necessarily think that because a voice actor played that part in one version of the franchise they therefore should be first choice for playing that character in every version. Especially given how characters sharing a name aren't always the same as each other. I mean before the 2007 movie, Gary Chalk had played various Optimus characters for a longer time than Peter Cullen had, so it's not like all Optimus Primes had the same voice from the beginning.

Also I guess they might not feel that people who usually perform children's animation would be right for a live action film series.

I'm just playing devil's advocate with that, but I imagine that's how it's possibly viewed outside of the fandom.

 

Someone needs to ball up and finally give Lorenzo and his narcissism the boot out of this franchise. The guy is just straight up toxic.

I'm not a Lorenzo fan or defender, but I don't understand this common conception that booting him will fix everyone's issues. I still don't fully buy that he's had as much influence as people say. The Bay movies were all Bay, the guy had final cut and full control over the movies. It was in his contract. The only case of Lorenzo's direct influence on the movies being apparent was them trying to springboard a Cinematic Universe out of TLK, which Bay probably let slide since he was burned out and didn't really care anymore. Bumblebee was fine and Lorenzo produced that.

Lorenzo says a lot of stupid things, but him saying things in interviews is not equivalent to impacting the movies themselves.

 

From what we’ve seen so far I don’t expect maximals and predacons to be in the movie that much.It seems autobots and terrocons are the main factions.Since it says rise of the beasts maybe they will be more in the sequels.

Well, so far, there hilariously hasn't even been any news if the Preds are gonna be in the film. And the only maximals we know of so far I believe, are just Primal, Cheetor, Airrazor, and Rhinox. By what I remember ofc

 

He's largely the money man who somehow manages to keep securing funding for films that routinely have now been underperforming, while also, inexplicably, deciding he has to personally be in charge of PR. I suspect the only reason he's even still involved is because he's secured his position as a fund raiser, otherwise the man seems to genuinely have no interest in these Hasbro franchises for much of the reason they remain popular. Like, he wouldn't shut up about how the Snake Eyes film was inspired by Samurai films...even though Snake Eyes isn't a Samurai.

People keep bringing up the Bumblebee film but the fact stands that Bumblebee is an outlier. They intentionally stripped out as much of the Bayverse stuff as they could after TLK bombed, and it wouldn't surprise me if that meant most of the stuff Lorenzo insisted on. Mostly because HuaHua media pulled out and Hasbro stepped in.

I mean, there's a reason that Don Murphy called Lorenzo 'Scorponok' back in the mid-2000s during the development of the first film, the dude sounded like an absolute terror and while that doesn't rule out any agenda Murphy may have had in a spun story, but we are talking about the same idiot who made a PR piece after TLK released talking about how existing lore pointed towards Quintessa being human when no such lore ever existed and thus suggests Lorenzo is worringly out of touch with the property besides compound word names and generic space alien tropes.

 

I just find it amazing, that Paramount and Hasbro let's this guy do the all the talking. They really need to restrain him.

 

A lot of problems with the films could easily be solved by getting somebody who actually understands how to promote a movie properly instead of somebody clearly making stuff up as he goes along.
