Yeah the 'part of the Bayverse' thing is inference. I think the problem was that those who were invited to the launch event weren't necessarily reporting what was said verbatim, and that's how things can easily get misconstrued.

To me, it stems from what I see as a lack of creative thinking (that would be in line with the characters in question) and probably moreso, not thinking thoroughly through some of the alt-mode choices. The Viper SR1 and Plymouth Superbird are good choices. I would have been fine with a modified '94 Ford GT with a spoiler kit. Also, the dreaded Lorenzo factor, once again. . .And the interview of him and Stephen Caple, Jr. does not reassure me, but really not surprised. While I like Creed II, I don't feel that what I've seen and heard so far has earned my excitement or enthusiasm, or my trust. If I decide to see ROTB, I won't be paying for it. After 14 years of movies, this whole nameslap/alt-mode slap deal is inexcusable . .

 

Because formula 1 is a shit mode to use for hiding in plain sight, they don’t leave the track or drive on regular roads. Audi looks nothing like formula one so not really sure why you went there

 

An Audi was Mirage's alternate mode in Bayformers (DOTM I think), hence why I brought it up.

Since its a form the character has previously taken, an Audi would have been a good alternative to the F1, or at least a far better option than just stealing Jazz's car mode.

 

Oh Dino? No he was a Ferrari. Also this isn't bayverse so there doesn't need to be any ties between this Mirage and that one. They legally couldn't make a Ferrari toy so they just recolored Sideways who was an audi, until the recent studio series where they gave Dino a completely new mold with an accurate robot mode and a squint-and-it-looks-like-a-ferrari vehicle mode.

 

Why is it stealing if they just want a different character, also the car modes are different, same brand but different, like Bumblebee in movie one going from two different camaro modes

 

As far as I know Jazz was never this model of Porche and silver with a single blue stripe. The only vehicle mode that is beholden to any autobot or decepticon is Optimus Prime being a semi truck in some shape or form. The rest don't matter, the robot modes matter most, with vehicle modes that fit their personality and can actually be disguises being the second priority. Nightbird has never been an earth car, yet I haven't seen much complaining about how it's not a silver copy of g1 arcee/s car mode. Jazz doesn't have to be a Porsche to look good, example from theAmazingSpino:

 

I still want to see one more character, at least one more terrorcon, like some more heralds of unicron, maybe Thunderwing, or maybe even THE TEAM

 

Characters sharing similar vehicles isn’t a new thing in the brand going back to g1 even. Just because mirage just happens to share a version of the car Jazz had in G1 doesn’t mean that the chances of jazz showing up are finished same goes if he does look a bit like Jazz. I mean just look at how similar Blitzwing and Starscream looked in Bumblebee yet you can tell who is Starscream. There’s also the fact that mirage can end up getting a formula alt mode since Bee himself got also his g1 alt mode at one pint in the last film

Also, your argument isn't sound. If Mirage was a Dodge Viper with the color scheme I mentioned above, no one would think it was Jazz.

The film makers obviously made a mistake with this choice considering many fans have the same opinion. Not sure why people have to try so hard to defend it.

 

Because all of this can easily be invalidated by seeing his robot mode. If he looks like mirage, it doesn’t matter
