Hasbro wouldn't even reissue G1 Fort Max because it didn't pass QC tests, most prominently the drop tests.

They even tried to get around US safety standards for the Dreamwave box G1 reissues by marketing them as adult collector's items; even that didn't fly.

In Japan, where very few private citizens own actual guns, Takara can get away with Megatrons that look like guns.

I mean stop and think about it: they marketed Siege Shockwave's alt mode as a "space cruiser", and TR Six Shot's pistol mode as a "submarine".

Neither toy bears any resemblance to a genuine firearm, nor do any guns have grape purple or seafoam green coloration.

If Hasbro is that concerned about covering its ass on toys that DO NOT IN ANY WAY BEAR SIMILARITY TO REAL WEAPONS, yeah...Megatron will never be a gun in the US again

Quick! If you talk about the Optimus Primal mask, someone might find it! Third time’s the charm, right?

Oh, didn’t you see? Apperently because the G1 re-issue Starscream comes with a gun, we have been defeated and our argument is moot.

No, seriously. When some people saw that they literally took it as a sign and were posting the most boomer-ass things like “that will show those “intellectuals” who think Megatron will never be a gun again!” And they were serious.

EDIT: Wait, why are we talking about this in the ROTB thread and not the SS86 2024 thread?

The links and pages are dead as of now. It redirects you to the Amazon not found page with the dog. Must have happened in the last day or so. Best bet is to try and track them down in stores if you want them before the street date.

Still can’t get over how small these modern deluxes are. Hot Wheels for scale:

Honestly that size feels better to handle imo. I like smaller figures.

And I know that the plastic quality has gone down (and it has compared to pre-2010 figures) but there is something about the way the plastic feels that mentally for me encourages me and wants me to mess with the figure more than say a 3p figure.

Weirdly enough my experience with modern clear plastic is significantly better than the older stuff. And plus the joints haven't loosened with age yet lol

For me, the plastic doesn't feel significantly better or worse. I will say that of all of my figures that have ever broken, all but one were pre 2010 figures. The only post 2010 figure that has broken on me is CW Blastoff, the plastic around one of his mushroom pegs tore. So I wouldn't say that the plastic quality has gone down, it's just that the feel of the plastic itself might be different.

Just picked up the Cheetor/Nightbird/Wheeljack 3-pack, and… I really like it! All three figures are good looking in both modes, fun to transform, and well articulated. Cheetor in particular is a significant improvement on the Kingdom take and I’d love to see it remolded into the classic BW Cheetor since it’s basically just a metallic version of it. Nightbird is really cool with an interesting transformation. Wheeljack is also cool and seems to be Studio Series quality… he’s my Bee-verse Skids though, I’m NOT calling him Wheeljack :)
