The animal armor figures look interesting, a lot like the ones they had for Cyberverse a few years ago which I thought were seriously under-rated. Although these don't have as good of articulation. The Angry Bird cameo in Bee's chest is... A Choice.

 

I wonder if we're starting to get Studio and mainline crossed. I could see characters who never appear in the movie getting figures similar to older movie lines. Though if that happens it'll likely be in later waves.

 

Rhinox's face kind of reminds me of Jhiaxus.

 

You know the really shiny Autobot symbol we see on the front of Scourge's alt. mode.

It definitely is, or maybe Scourge likes to polish his trophies.

 

When was the last time we got an actual release date for a toy line? Was it Age of Extinction? Neat to see they're setting one again.

 

Judging from the size of these toys, none of these really fit into the Legion class like I originally thought.

Yeah I could easily see Scourge beating the piss out of Bee as he stands his ground and gives Prime and co. a window to escape. We never see the finishing blow, but the next time we see Scouge he's polishing the emblem and attaching it to his grill.

 

Oh yeah I get you there, I was just giving my thoughts on what I thought was going to happen and what I thought wouldn't happen. I just don't see Bumblebee dying and being resurrected, nor do I think the gimmick toy ties into a resurrection, since we've had a lot of examples of toyline gimmicks not carrying over to the film, especially when the two characters are already getting possible upgrades.

 

Oh, he definitely kills Bee early in the film, we even get that scene in the trailer when we actually see Not-Tarn holding up Bumblebee - the scene cut happens right before anything actually goes down but given we also didn't see a whole lot of Bumblebee on-set until the end, I think it's pretty clear what happens.

Dude, death is almost always how the franchise explains people getting upgrades. It's rarer for a character to rise from the dead without a new body and upgrades.

 

Yeah its weird, she does look more like what her BB design would be if they continued more down that line. Honestly I dig that design much more than the actual design.

I would be very interested if they did a really good deluxe or MP for the mainline design, if not then hope some third party does. Is it just me, or have I been digging the mainline designs more than the SS

 

The mainline voyager will probably be close to this.

 

It looks like the SS toys will have those dull and rusty movie accurate colours, while the mainline will be in BW accurate colours, like Cheetor for example.

 

Something like that. Which I love Rhinox’s design so far so I hope both are good, and that the Rhino modes aren’t basically brick articulation wise.

 

Eyeah, out of the recent reveal like the battle master and the Pheonix Bumblebee, the only one that I have remotely interests in are the battle master (Cheetar a sword, Rhinox is a butt gatling gun and Gator Megatron/ Bonecrusher is a big gun like Optimus)!
I am fully aware these mainlines are aimed for kids but that is the reason why I have little interests in them. I mean Rhinox look cool especially when he resemble his BW counterpart but I ain't buying him. Really hoping mainline Optimus Primal look good cos if I were to buy a mainline RoTB, it would likely be Cheetor only cos I haven't bought a the Kingdom mold yet (but I have my sight on Nightprowler) eventhought I don't like the collar thing they gave to that mold!

 

I wouldn't agree with you there. Hot Rod became Rodimus while alive. Megatron didn't die before he became Galvatron in G1 or the Unicron Trilogy. All the other upgrades in the Unicron Trilogy apart from Hoist, Roadblock, and Wing Saber weren't from death either; they were all just grave injuries. This includes in Prime, when Optimus is upgraded. He's on the verge of death and gravely injured, but he isn't killed and resurrected. In AOE, Optimus's two upgrades were not while he was dead. Megatron's resurrections in the movies are the only definite examples I can think of off the top of my head that are deaths that result in an upgrade.

I think it's far more likely that Scourge stabs Bumblebee and takes his emblem but is interrupted before he can actually finish the job.

 

That Rhinox isn’t half bad really. But, erm… One thing…

Who wants to tell Bee he’s got a bird nesting in his chest…?

 

Bee's recovery, if that's the case, will probably last a while. Regardless, his gaining a beast mode seems to be the major turning point for the Autobots and Maximals in the film.

 

He already knows - just look at his face!
