On topic: I love the Battle Masters and will buy all of them. They look leagues more interesting than the WFC Trilogy Battle Masters.

 

Those battlemaster look like so much fun. I need twenty unique ones asap

In all seriousness most of these toys look fun. Some of the combining armour figures aren't my cup of tea however the beast battlemasters, the Primal and Optimus that come with the tiger and wolf weapons look really fun and are a day one buy.

Optimus Prime looks accurate besides some missing silver and the fact he comes with a wolf that transforms into a chainsaw is just ridiculous and cool.

I notice the news post doesn't mention the character names for the partner beasts, but they're mentioned in the IGN report:

I'm assuming that means:

• Arrowstripe - Primal's Battle Master
• Chainclaw - Prime's Battle Master
• Snarlsaber - Bumblebee's Combiner
• Silverfang - Arcee's Combiner
• Skullcruncher - Primal's Combiner

The file names for the images on IGN confirm the Crocodile (Alligator?) Battle Master as Crescent.

 

I'll prolly get the gator gun and the chainsaw. Not interested in anything else.

Yep. That kind of "criticism" is stuff Hasbro will immediately discard because it offers nothing constructive. Especially when repeated ad nausea by the same people for everything.

Isn't Prime's just Tigatron and Arrowstripe is one of the big cats that forms armor?

 

Mind getting an image of Skullcruncher listed as Crescent? IGN website isn’t working well on my phone.

Crescent had a deluxe in Studio Series wave 3, so if he really is Skullcruncher, thats big news.

 

Happy to see Rhinox get some mainline love, regardless of form and implementation. Now give me a studio series of that design. I didn't even know he was going to be in the movie.

 

He's in the next Voyager Wave, I think.

 

Interesting looking figures, animal spark armor thing is neat, Rhinox looks like Rhinox, and I loooove those little battlemasters who I honestly hope fit with the SS figures just for the heck of it. Interesting we didn't get the normal deluxes but I guess we'll get those a bit later in the month.

 

SS Skullcruncher??? That is veeeery interesting. Wonder what faction he'll be a part of?

 

Some interesting stuff here.

 

I'm not sure I see a lot of that happening, especially Bumblebee dying. Bumblebee already had a fakeout death/revival in the last film, and I think they can only really pull that once before it gets old. I also just kinda think it would be lame for them to instantly revive someone who was previously dead. If anything, I think Bumblebee will just get gravely injured and then gain his offroad alt mode as an upgrade after being repaired.

Also not sure about the Beast mode stuff for Prime and Bee. I'm assuming a lot of these gimmick toys are more to sell the whole "standard G1 crew AND beasts" thing the movie has going, and the eagle mode Bumblebee is there to further bridge the gap. Whether Optimus gets that 18 wheeler mode still remains to be seen as it is, but I think both Prime and Bee getting three upgrades in one movie would be a bit much. Not to mention, we already have Optimus and Optimus Primal in the film; I think it would be more confusing for Prime to get a beast mode when we already have another Optimus who is a beast in the same movie, likely to be initially confusing enough to non-TF fans as is. At most I could maybe see some combining, maybe Bumblebee combining with Airrazor, and that's what the toy is referencing, but even that feels like a bit of a stretch. Maybe I'm seeming pessimistic, but if the previous movie gimmicks vs the movies themselves are anything to go by, this stuff is just a toy marketing gimmick and little more.
