Indeed-the never-ending "cool" factor that shortchanges other aspects of these films. . .

This entire brand is built off of the cool factor, but as soon as the movies employ it for any little thing it's a problem?

It's not a "little thing", because it is not used harmoniously with the other elements:eek: ;)  . . .

Probably my last post on this thread (no offense to anyone :)  just saying), but I felt it worth noting that Primes cannon looks like a retexture of the gun that Dropkick had in his arm, which is what I thought when I first saw the teaser but you be the judge...

Without splitting hairs on the above picture being just concept art the resemblance to me at least is quite striking.

And I point this out not in the sense of "Hasbro cheaped out on the cgi" which I find to be a ludicrous argument in itself
once again no offense to anyone in particular it's just that how much time or money spent in designing computer generated robots is frankly up to the corporation that owns the franchise and for fans to argue about it or anything else like it's foreign policy strikes me as being redundant and unconstructive (I am not a narcissist, those are just the only adjectives I could think of lol), it's something to discuss and/or laugh about but it's just not worth getting worked up about or letting someone else work you up about it. :)
but just because of how hilarious it is, I mean it's a remodeled gun from another movie and to add insult to injury it's as big as his darn leg. Poor Optimus lol.

I don't think it is Dropkick's gun reused, comparing them side by side there's too many differences. I think this is just the movie people going "uuuh bumblebee has an arm cannon, should Optimus have one too?" since it does resemble Bee's old cannon.

Not a straight up reuse but it definitely shares a similar design structure, look at the tip and the front half and you'll see what I mean.

Ha ha! It could be as simple as that. I think Optimus having a arm gun is fine and all (I think everybody else has one) but maybe a boxy-er type of gun would have looked better like a multi barrel shotgun or something?
Hmm... a triple barreled Gatling style energy gun that came out of his arm and actually spun when it fired would have been cool.
Even better, a scaled down Metal Storm battery, it could have been mounted on his shoulder - scratch that - both shoulders lol!

In my honest opinion the Bayverse (bare with me) with the violent overall military theme was and is the Transformers/GI Joe crossover that never happened... Mic drop.

No seriously if you wants to make a movie about sci fi robots from another planet whatever you do don't give them conventional weaponry, it doesn't look good lol!

In terms of the cannon, I find it silly. If he has a cannon arm, why would he need to carry his blaster? Melee weapons in his arms is fine, but cannon? Nah, should'nt happen.

As for movie expectations, the return to the Bay-verse asthetic, the inability for the trailer to allow a robot to fully Transform and the human cast being described by reports as being bland makes me concerned. The design for some of the robot characters suck, looking lifeless and or simply reminding me of the Twins.

The Terrorcons just look like generic fodder at the moment, especially Scourge, and the final battle looks sloppy and messy like Endgame, just a bunch of grey robots running in a grey wasteland. I'm concerned by the lack of hints towards Predacons given they are an important part of the Beast Wars.

Lots of underwhelming/unfinished CGI which should not be the case for what are the shots in the trailer you want to sell the movie and the shot of Mirage transforming from the inside looked terrible with a ton of gaps all over the place, similar with Primal when he was running.

I need something more to grasp me in the next trailer and I'm curious about the length of the movie now as it does not feel like it'll need a lot of time to tell the story it's seemingly setting itself up to tell. I want and need this movie to be more like Bumblebee than the Bayverse in order to retain interest. I don't want to see them just fall back into the Bay-verse trappings and see another 5-10 years wasted setting up stuff only to cancel and reboot before the payoff.

I can see that, but I think the similarities could just be a coincidence due to both guns being "arm cannons that were designed by the same concept artist", assuming Optimus' new design was once again led by the same man who did him and Dropkick whose name escapes me.

And yeah, this isn't my personal choice for what a "Arm cannon design for Optimus Prime" would look like either, but then again, iconically Optimus is always holding big guns in most media, so I think in general our brains struggle with imagining him going all Megaman on us with a gun popping out of his wrist. If anything, I do think his arm cannon is stricking due to the absurd size and the rectangle-ish red parts popping out of it's back.

I expect no Predacons to appear and at least one Decepticon to appear in the city, that's it.

Really I'm just endeared that Airrazor was shooting lasers while she was a bird. Back in the day none of the original crews had weapons in beast mode, to the point they had at least two whole episdes dedicated to Megatron forcing everyone to stay in their fut suits, and while certainly you can't underestimate such animalistic tactics like a gorilla's ability to perform demoralizing hand gestures, that stuff is easy to deal with when you're the guy with a laser cannon. But if she and her pals can blast you without first imitating your humanoid form then suddenly the dynamics shift and you must be more cautious.

I heard Stratosphere and Decepticon Ruckus is in the movie, is that true? The rumour I heard was that Stratosphere is just there to help the Autobots go to Peru while Ruckus transforms into a city bus and appears in the beginning but gets killed by Prime himself.

The con’s name is Transit. From what I’ve heard, he’s going to be the New York MCI Classic Transit Bus that was spotted on set being used for action sequences.

I hope this is the right place to talk about this.

But you see this is one of the things that worries me about this film.
Some people have no idea what it's about and whether it's a reboot or a sequel.
I've even seen some who don't know that the movie Bumblebee existed !
I just hope the movie doesn't get smashed by "I didn't know when it was happening".

I really hope that's true because I've always wanted a bus bot.
