I saw the movie last night. My thoughts on it are here

 

There is no post credits scene.

 

I’m sorry, I may get hate for this, but Pablo should not have been in this movie. He did absolutely fuck all and barely had any lines. I mean seriously! WHY was he there?? So Hasbro could sell an extra toy? I genuinely don’t know the reason. We could’ve avoided all the arguments and debates if he simply didn’t exist in the first place.

 

Now that I think about it. I completely agree. He didn't have to be in this movie at all. I don't think he brought the movie down at all simply being there but he was an unnecessary addition.

 

I hope to go today; maybe tomorrow.

I don't know what to expect 100%. I don't think I should expect anything in particular.

Critics seem to like it less than Bumblebee but more than the Bay sequels. That could mean anything. I thought RotF, DotM, and AoE were awesome, despite critics and fans claiming how awful they were in their time, and some still get hatred. Not perfect, but each was highly enjoyable for what it was. I thought TLK was the weakest Bay movie, but I don't think it's as bad as the fandom makes it out to be either. It was a flawed movie that still had many redeeming aspects. Bumblevee was not my favorite. It was cutesy, which is fine for a kids' movie, of course, but not what I want from in a Transformers movie.

I don't know how this will compare to the others. Maybe I will enjoy it more. Maybe less. Maybe in between.

With that said, there are some things I don't care about or don't expect.

I DON'T expect this to be a live action Beast Wars adaptation. I expect this to be a Transformers movie with some Maximals as Transformers characters.

I DON'T expect this to be something out of the realm of the brand or previous movies. I think fans have turned Transformers into something it never has been through rose-tinted lenses. Transformers, even at its best, has never been the deepest thing in existence. I think if we go in expecting an ogre-the-top summer blockbuster, we might find enjoyment. If we go in expecting something deep, and Transformers has never really been that, we are going to be disappointed. I just hope for some enjoyable scenes and characters and action. That's it.

I DON'T care which characters get the most focus and which get the least. I just care that the characters are enjoyable while they appear on screen. Ensemble Transformers cast in live action movies are never going to feature all robots equally or have every robot get a ton of characterization or character development. It's not happening. Neither did the original cartoon or comics.

I DON'T care about whether it turns out to be a reboot or not. I just care that it's an enjoyable Transformers movie featuring some robots from the history of the brand.

I am not going to judge the film based on what I wish would have happened. I am going to judge the film based on the story the filmmakers are trying to tell.

I have a question for you all. If the bumblebee movie didn’t have that opening cybertron scene, would the movie have been as well loved by fans? Critics would’ve still liked it a lot, but I have a feeling fans really only love and over rate the film because it gave us a G1 war for cybertron battle scene. But if you remove that, I think lots of fans would maybe find the movie “mid” or “alright”. Thoughts?
