To no one's surprise, especially when we don't even see any teaser trailer as of now.

Can’t say I’m surprised or bothered. Take as long as you need to make a good movie. More time for editing, FX and possibly reshoots isn’t a bad thing.

This makes sense. Especially if they’re banking on this reboot to reignite the general movie-going audience’s interest in the brand. 2023 should be a much safer year for cinema and for the shipping of tie-in products. Not to mention the film definitely needs more time for production.

The Cabin in the Woods is one example.
Got delayed for 2 years rather than 1.

If I recall correctly, Fury Road had a good bit of delays and some reshoots.

Well then. Honestly could’ve seen at most a 6 month delay. A year is a bit much.

Also it makes sense that this is coming summer 2023 rather than winter 2022 since that was packed with so many movies coming out

My gut says reshoots. I can't imagine the pandemic being a factor anymore at this point given that...well, it's over. We're just dealing with the aftershocks of it on the economy.

This is disheartening though. It'll be 4 1/2 years between Bumblebee and ROTB. That's the longest gap in films in the franchise. A few months is expected. A year delay post-pandemic is alarming.

    Shit.

Honestly don’t blame them, unless Spider Man turns out to be a mega box office hit this December, I don’t see the box office really returning til normal for a bit. This is probably the safer movie to make a better movie and more money
