    That's because it's a re-imagining, not a remake.

You might want to see conquest of the planet of the apes since that is the one which features Caesar in the original films just so you know how he was originally portrayed if you are into that type of thing.

I just watched this movie, and it's so beyond epic that there aren't even words. The throwbacks are great, and it was just plain fantastically done!

One re-tells a story with little differences.

The other takes an idea and tells a new story

Except this time it's justified. Since, y'know, this movie was actually good.

So you don't want Transformers to get an award?

I want a film that deserves an award to get an award. I'm not saying DOTM is the scum of Hollywood or even the worst film of the year, but, objectively, it was not a good movie.

Even the CGI, which is still amazing and deserves to be held as one of the greatest examples of it in film, could be considered second to the CGI of Caesar, mostly due to just how much he interacts with real actors. In the Transformers films, the Transformers themselves do look incredible and realistic, but you wouldn't really believe there is a giant robot standing there. In POTA, Caesar looks just like a real chimp. That might even be why Golden Compass stole TF's award years ago.

Besides, getting an award isn't going to change people's opinion of the film. By now, you either like it or you don't. It's already surpassed the one billion mark, which is no small feat, but it really doesn't mean much in the eyes of most.

    I don't know, just my :2c: .

IMO, Transformers had the better CGI because the people making the CGI had NOTHING to work with, and it still looked fantastic, and they still interacted great with humans. In Planet of the Apes, they had motion capture to work with. It was still good, but they were given more to work with than the people who worked on Transformers.
Plus, the CG in Transformers just looked way better to me overall.

    Can't tell if serious...

This. If you can make a robot out of a car, you deserve that award.

IF Transformers didn't win for the last two films, then I don't understand why anyone would expect this for the DOTM.

Besides, FX awards, it's barely worth a mention.
