End of an era here...
Steve Ditko, Spider-Man Co-Creator and Legendary Comics Artist, Dies at 90
My condolences to those that were close to him.
RIP Steve Ditko
Aw Crap, well at least he lived a long life. We've lost an amazing talent.
It's sad when your heroes can't be around forever.
Damn... condolences to his family.
This news saddens me. And yet, Ditko might insist that we won't miss him--only the "Steve Ditko" brand under which he sold his work. He was quirky, but I beg to differ.
Thank you, Mr. Ditko.
RIP Mr Steve Ditko.
Thank you, sir, for being a founder of the comic-book industry and for creating a line of incredible superhuman characters:
-For DC Comics, it was the Creeper, Hawk and Dove, Shade the Changing Man, the Question and the Blue Beetle Ted Kord.
- For Marvel, it was Speedball, Eternity, and the the classic heroes Squirrel Girl, Spider-Man and Dr Strange, and their enemies the Green Goblin, Dr Octopus, the Sandman, the Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, Baron Mordo and Dormammu.
He also worked on some comics for Transformers and Power Rangers in the 80s and 90s, as his normal and TF wikis show.
I wish he hadn't been so reclusive and denying of interviews though. He was a fascinating person and I'd have liked to hear more of him and know more of him.
Well, technically, that was for Charlton Comics. Along with my favorite of his creations, The Question. DC bought them much later.
How Steve Ditko Defined Spider-Man for a Generation
RIP Mr Ditko.
Marvel Comics Honors the Legacy of Steve Ditko
"Only a small group of individuals can claim that they have effected and redefined not just an industry, but popular culture worldwide. Steve Ditko was one of those few who dared to break molds every time his pencil and pen hit a blank sheet of paper. In his lifetime he blessed us with gorgeous art, fantastical stories, heroic characters and a mystical persona worthy of some of his greatest creations. And much like his greatest co-creation, Steve Ditko’s legend and influence will outlive us all.”
"Steve Ditko’s hands and soul are all over the best character in all of fiction. He was a pillar of the House of Ideas who not only co-created Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, but many of the best villains in comic book history. Steve was the first to make Marvel truly weird, and for that we are forever grateful.”"
Ditko's Doctor Strange Was Psychedelic Before Psychedelic Was a Thing
I feel spooked about this after I got to see Ant-Man & the Wasp on Friday.
Anyways thank you Steve for bringing the world Spider-Man, Doctor Strange the Question, Creeper, Hawk and Dove, shade the changing man, Ted Kord & Captain Atom.
What's even sadder is someone on Facebook did a RIP picture with Spider-Man and someone asked, "Oh no, did Stan Lee die?" When he was told no, his response was, "Okay, so Stan Lee is okay? He's all I care about."
