    I remember him best as Captain Nathan Bridger of SeaQuest DSV.

    He was a damned fine actor.

    In addition to Jaws, he was great in the French Connection, and had a very memorable role in the Marathon Man. I've got a lot of great movie memories of Scheider. RIP

    Wow. Rest in peace, indeed. One of my favorite movie characters is/was Chief Brody.

    Rest in peace to a GREAT actor, you will be missed by MANY.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
