Astronaut John Glenn has passed away at the age of 95 after being hospitalized due to a strange illness that he obtained while visiting Antarctica. John Glenn, American hero, aviation icon and former U.S. senator, dies at 95 Amazingly, he was the last remaining Mercury 7 astronaut.
One of the greatest Ohioans and Americans in my lifetime, It is a very sad day on the surface, but deep down we know that man lived a lifetime and a half, you better believe it.
I get that he's dead and that sucks, but is anyone else creeped out? I can't find an article aying what it was.
my elementary school was called John Glenn Elementary School where every student knows the history of John Glenn. rest in peace, sir.
I salute to you, the first man, who fly to space and the first elder in space, and all around pure badass.
He went to space, became a Senator, went again to space - as a Senator, and died being a badass in Antarctica at 95(!). I'd be proud to live a life 1/10th as awesome. God speed, Colonel.
I didn't hear he passed until after I got home from work. I believe I did a project on him when I was a kid. Its sad to hear about his passing. Godspeed, John Glenn.
Especially since Buzz Aldrin was also evacuated due to illness, tho in his case it looks like a common one that happens down there. It might be that Glenn had it, too, and succumbed to it. RIP Glenn. --Moony
