I was just starting college when RID aired...didn't stop me from splurging on Megs, Optimus, & Ultra Magnus when I saw them on the shelves back then though.

Been probably just as many years since I watched any of the cartoon, but had fun going through episodes today on youtube. 100% an obnoxious character, Towline had a great head design, so I thought it would be fun to get some practice drawing him on my wacom tablet.

Loved this series, loved the toyline even more. I wasn't big on Beast Wars and Beast Machines, until this series came along, I didn't have much to go on Transformers-wise for a long time. I was thrilled to see these figures in stores.

Even bought all the JUSCO Exclusives and the multiple recolors of the Spychangers. Couldn't get enough of those little guys.

Wonderful show! RID proved to me that a comedy Transformers show was actually possible, without sacrificing the integrity of Transformers, unlike After the Michael Bay and Beast Wars.

Another aspect that sets this show apart from the other Japanese-origin cartoons is that the writers actually re-wrote material to make more sense, continuity, and just add coolness. Props to Michael McConnohie who was a writer and voice on the show, and is 1 of the TF actors who has the most respect for the Transformers franchise.
    Thank you Michael! :)

Out of all series, I really wanted this to be available on DVD. I have the series on my computer, but it's bad VHS quality.

I feel like this sums up my own experience which took place while I was in college. They did air it on FoxKids here, but the schedule became inconsistent and I forget exactly what happened, but the episodes weren't being released in order. I'm trying to remember what program I used back in the day... Livewire? Or some video version of Napster to get the episodes.

    spychangers Archives - RIDForever
This was the section which guided me into acquiring every single spychanger. I couldn't explain it then, and I can't explain it now, but I love those damn little bots. I had managed to acquire all the G2 Spychangers thanks to the KBToys deal bins but this just enhanced my craving for these.

I just loved all of these figures. The repainted Combaticons were awesome, and who just doesn't love those versus packs which were later repainted in Robotmasters!

Time flies. Guess the series is old enough to get the MP treatment ;)

At the least, some recognition in the upcoming "Legacy" line or some homage.
At least give us a Sideburn or X-Brawn. Maybe even a new Predacon 3-pack!

Would anyone else be down for a Cybertron Crosswise retool of Sideburn? Or vice versa.

You know, R.I.D was technically the first transformers show I ever saw as a kid, I remember being 5 years old and flipping the channel to cartoon network to see R.E.V and the rest of the spychangers turning into their car modes, and from there I was hooked. I also remember messing with my friends Movor once in my car seat when I was a toddler.

Now that its 20 years old, I\'m glad to see it get the recognition it deserves. Its surprisingly a good show despite it being obscure. I\'m also trying to track down a Japanese Baldigus and the rest of the R.I.D cast.

    Happy 20th Birthday R.I.D!

RID / Car Robots made me the collector I am today not only about what I look for in a figure, but also it gave me my nickname which has been my personal brand over the years. Here's a little homage to that. RID Forever!!!!!!!!!!

Still remember how depressing it was at the end of the Beast Machines era.
Felt like it was about to die again, then Takara dropped the Car Robots bomb.
