So, I have RID Optimus, and I like him. He's an ok figure. I've been wanting to go ahead and get Magnus to complete Omega Prime, but all of the pictures I see have Omega Prime just standing straight up with arms straight down like a big honkin' brick.

Magnus seems to sell a bit pricey on ebay, and I'm just wondering if Omega Prime's worth it. I really don't want something I'm just going to put on my shelf in a straight up, and stoic pose with no posability.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Considering how much you seem to love armor sets I say get but wait for a good deal.

If you don't mind taking off some weapons he's alright. If you leave everything on he's kinda hard to balance.

Quick question, how much did you see it for on eBay?

You'll regret Magnus when you put him in robot mode. You'll curse while you transform Omega Prime.

But then you'll get it done, get it in an awesome pose, and arm it with a Tau or God Sword or something like that and any regret will fade into the distance very, very quickly.

That's funny because I have the RID Ultra Magnus and have been wondering if I wanted to get the RID Prime.

This so very much. Although Magnus isn't actually that bad, and the vehicle mode kicks enormous amounts of ass.

But once you assemble Omega Prime (which isn't actually that hard)... oh boy.

I'll be waiting for your pictures of this TJD so you have to get this toy!

Yeah you will like the Omega prime combo. I didn't have any issues with the combination. Remember the "shake hands" scene between Prime and Magnus in the cartoon, well the toy combines the same way.

The toy is far from being a brick when combined. You won't be getting super poses out of the arms, but it's a very satisfying set.

Then again this is from the guy who has the Car Robots, RID, Sam's club and Costco versions of the set. I am still looking for the Car Robots Godfire Convoy version.

I just saw one go for about $250 a few months ago, though it was locally here in NZ online.

Omega uses the same articulation as Optimus, since it's just armour. In fact he's got slightly better will full rocker ankles instead of just a limited ball.

The only problem is, he's fucking heavy, and on a smooth surface his legs can slide out from under him, which is why people prfer to pose him standing straight. (plus he's big, so big splayed-out poses take up a lot of room) However he's the deffinition of epic, and even though he's tricky to pose, he's not impossible.

Magnus is a great fig by himself, too. VERY underrated. Far more articulated than he looks. (however lack of ankles means he needs assistance or creative posing) Has one of the best headsculpts ever, and a bitchin' truck mode. Just wish his electronics didn't wind up on his back, as it moves his center of gravity away and thus makes him hard to stand at first.

He's a great figure alright, his only problem aesthetically is the long legs.

Now that you mention the headsculpt, one day I saw these cylinders on the side of his head as some sort of renaissance wig and I've never been able to unsee it since.

Pity that I don't have space to display these guys currently, so they sit ignored in a drawer with my Beast Wars (and Vector Prime). I'll have to get bigger shelves.

Very worth it but if your Prime has loose joints you might want to tighten them

This is what got me back into transformers back in the day. I lucked out and imported the Japanese versions. There is just something about them yelling in English with a heavy Japanese accent. Makes me smile everytime. Totally worth getting.

Same problem here. For the OP. Check BBTS's vintage tab every few days. I have seen complete loose ones in descent quality going for under $50, which is less than the eBay price you quoted.

I really like Magnus...he is more posable than he looks, despite the incredibly long legs that put me off when I first looked at pics of him online. And yes, the Omega Prime combination is awesome, though fucking heavy.

$250 for the God Fire Convoy TRU set? Was it sealed still, or at least complete with the God Sword? That's a really good price. I've seen the set go for more on eBay (and paid much more than $250 for my set).
