Planning to finally sit down and watch this series since I have a little more time but which version is best?
Personal Preference - RID I have not seen much of Car Robots. RID may have it's faults sometimes but is very entertaining. The VA's fit their characters nicely especially Scourge and Skybyte, who I much rather prefer than their Japanese VA's for Black Convoy and Gelshark.
I'd watch Fight Super Robot Lifeform Car Robots 2000, which is the full and proper name for Car Robots/RID in Japan, if for no other reason to hear that jammin' theme music \m/.
I like the characterisation of Car Robo brothers and Team Shinkansen in Car Robot. I am biased toward Japanese shows, though, because I can understand it better.
Car Robots. I like how they handed Gigatron, the rivalry and duel Matrix of God Magnus and Fire Convoy, and Gelsharks Haiku's.
Aside from the fact that CR has a sentimental place in my heart, I tend to like watching shows in their original form and language, so i'd go with CR if there are english subs too.
I've never watched either for more than an episode, but from what I've seen/heard, RID tries to take itself seriously... when the source material CR really didn't. Mostly the Autobots. So I'll wait for TV-Nihon to finish subbing it before I watch it.
I like Car Robots better. The voices are better (especially Gigatron) and the music too. Maybe I wouldn't like it more than RID if I saw RID first. I didn't like that things were taken out when it became RID but the translation wasn't horrible as compared to Galaxy Force to Cybertron.
CAr Robots definitely. Better voices and music. Plus both the openig and ending song are way better than the Usa ones. ^^
