And it looks this issue is going to have a lot of that.
At last, let's hope this gives RiD the boost it needs. Looks like Guido is back on the flashbacks. Wish they'd get him full time for these. No offense to Griffith, but he stinks at drawing humans.
I'm very happy to see Jazz will be getting some focus, since he's one of my favorite Autobots. He still seems very disturbed by what happened awhile ago on earth. Even though I don't think it was his fault, I can understand why he's so bothered by it. I also love that shot of him and Sky-byte jamming together.
Seriously, was that cop the 'world's most interesting mans" brother? They seem to put a lot more emphasis than on the innumerable people the cons killed.
I know, right? I mean, sure... by all means, let's have some deep thoughts and soul-searching, and place all sorts of inordinate emphasis on that ONE GUY that Jazz shot in that one badly-written wildly out-of-character moment. I don't need to have an emo episode with Jazz revisiting it. I don't need a quasi-retcon to flesh out the hidden psychological underpinnings of the incident. I don't need to Spotlight Prowl this. Just move the fuck on already. Cripes. The art's pretty nice. It looks like Guido's style is evolving, and I think I like it. It feels much smoother than before. zmog
You've gotta point, but I never quite understood what going through Jazz's head with that issue and what followed.
True... but I'd rather just chalk it up to bad writing and move on. I have no interest in revisiting/revising Costa's run. I'd rather just focus on good new material with Jazz. zmog
The only person other than Jazz to bring it up has been Marissa, and that was just to throw something Prime said back in his face. Jazz is the only one actually dwelling on it, and that's because of how sick of killing he is. No...? I'm not sure why you'd think he was.
It doesn't excuse it (by a LONG shot) but I think the out-of-universe answer to the question "why are they making such a big deal about Jazz killing Some Guy?" is because WE made it a big deal. The concept of "sticking to your guns" and ignoring the meta-influence of fandom is pretty much an alien one to all Transformers writers except 1980s Bob Budiansky. And even he was taking marching orders from jumpy executives who were absolutely taking the temperature of the (young) fans. That said, I think that in a very strained manner they are bending it into a story of a special forces soldier who can't let go even when he wants to. Maybe. Jazz's "all I am is a stone killer" in RID S1 was one of the greatest moments the character's ever had. His recent "OMG I almost splatted a hostile enemy soldier" from this season was among the WORST. Regret and angst are two different things.
Nice to see the focus is on Jazz. Hopefully where they ultimately go with this is satisfying. We just got over mopey Prime; I do not want a mopey Jazz.
I just find it such a waste of time to go back and try to save bad stories when everyone would be better served by coming up with good new stories. Though Barber being so uneven doesn't help. Sometimes he's better off plugging holes than building his own dams. Or something. Analogy fail. I think this is true. It's not that we can't ever get some insight into Jazz, and address some of that old baggage, and build a story around that. Jazz has always been a character marked by contradictions. However, it feels like the time for this is long past, and Barber has been hitting the Jazz incident with all the subtlety of a jackhammer lately. zmog
He was a COP, people always make big deals when police are killed. Bumblebee was also talking the guy down and Jazz took it upon himself to kill him. So you're saying Jazz should just get over killing a guy and move on as if nothing happen?
