Man. I like this Soundwave.

 

Ok seriously what's with the Dark Cybertron covers wih Hardhead, Rodimus, Cyclonus and Pax? Are we going to get these like all year or something?

 

They probably commissioned a ton of covers they didn't end up needing, and so they want to use them somewhere.

 

Aye, this is definitely one of my favourite versions of the character, if not my most favourite.

Also, Thundercracker's still having a breakdown. Ha. Poor guy.

 

I love Soundwave. Man Thundercracker now you feel the humans did when Cybertronians wreck the place.

Autobots equal home wreckers. LOL

 

Galvatron: "I will kill every last one of you and incinerate the leftovers!"

Soundwave: "What my colleague MEANT to say is, we're all friends here."

 

"We fight for equality. That is the core of the Decepticon belief system."--Soundwave.

Chilling stuff indeed. Putting the deception into Decepticon as always, that Soundwave. Of course, this being the IDW continuity, it's anyone's guess--maybe even Soundwave's--as to how genuine that belief may be, and how it's used. Even the best of values can be twisted to dark ends.

 

The scary part is I think Soundwave genuinely might just believe it thanks to the whole sunk cost fallacy thing, that it has to all have been for something or else he's basically wasted his life and that's something he can't accept. Whereas Megatron 'seemingly' has and is trying to move on.

 

And based on what's to come in the next issues, this might turn into a war with earth.

 

Well if you've read the Soundwave "spotlight" issues of RiD from just before Dark Cybertron, it's fairly clear that his belief is genuine, born of a combination of his time in serving the senate, his friendship with 'bots considered lower-class but whom he saw as friends and equals, and Megatron's own sheer dedication, which gave him the psychic focus he needed to hone his telepathic powers and "think straight" for the first time in his life. But I think we all doubt that humanity fits into the particular vision of equality...

What I particularly love is that Soundwave is clearly USING Galvatron - there's no way he's got any time for this ancient barbarian king's way of doing things, but he needs a new face to put on the Decepticons to sell the whole "we're now on the opposite side to Megatron" thing he's doing here to the humans. It can't be HIMSELF, he was part of the invasion too, he needs to make it a whole "just following orders" thing, and wouldn't you know it, there's this bonkers ancient dude who WANTS to be the leader, well, isn't THAT handy, wink wink.

And these humans are really getting on my nerves. They're standing in the Autobots way and they should just move.

 

So it's basicly
Galvatron- "Crush kill, destroy you pitiful insects"
Soundwave- "Our new leader is merely expressing his desire for peace and harmony for all living beings."
Optimus- "WTF? We saved your species from extinction!"
Marrissa- "You blew up guns we could be using to shoot stuff and left us in peace! I don't like you!"

Seriously this and AOE aren't doing much to make me like humans in Transformers.

 

The humans know they are in the middle. Galvatron for sure sees them as cannon fodder and Soundwave it is 50 50 how he sees them. Humans are buying time and hoping the Autobots will help them out. Part of emotions humans have for Megatron is fear and hatred to them he is their nightmare and enemy. Megatron did threaten wiped the human out and in essence it is a betrayal. Do they trust the Decepticons absolutely not. Can humans step aside no they cannot. They know for sure that the Decepticons and Galvatron will have no second thoughts in killing the Humans.

Soundwave truly believes that Decepticon cause is about equality and freedom. I think in some ways he has not truly grapple what has happen. I don't think he believes in Galvatron totally.

 

I think Soundwave realizes that for all intents and purposes, he needs a figurehead strongman to lead the Decepticons.

Well, how would you feel if the robots you befriended blew up the stuff they gave to you and severed all ties with you?

 

Didn't they do that because it turned out the humans (mostly Spike) were keeping secrets from them anyways?

 

Ask Thundercracker. That is what happened to him humans gave him stuff and giant robots wrecked the place.

When you have to dumb down the human element to this extent to make an Earth story then what's the point???

Plus, does Marrissa = Spike???

I don't like this character already so if the annoyances persist and she gets more panel time I'm pulling this from preorder list and just skim through it at the comic book store.
