With my university term cut short by a pandemic you may have heard of I've had some time to work on a new project. I have a few things I want to print, but my printer is currently in need of a new part. while I wait I decided to start a project I've always wanted to do but finally think I have the ability to do well.

So anyway here is how much of a prime I've been able to model in about 2 days. Hopefully tomorrow Ill have the cab bot fully modelled, engineering and all. Would like him to be legends size, but if he gets to complex Ill make him modern voyager sized. Anyone know anyone I could commission for headsculpts? I hate doing them so much...

Awesome! If you're looking for Headsculpts I think Trentulas does them for $40? It might only be titan master faces though, I can't remember.

Nice, I see his midsection isn't just a facade like our toy was.

Yeah, I've managed to work in a fully encompassing torso armour, and he has all the articulation the origibal was missing (including an ab in both modes)

Earthrise leader, essentially the core bot is voyager and then the super mode is whatever he shakes out to be

Getting close to being ready to start printing. I want prime to be the best he can be, so I've been trying to improve his proportions. I think the new ones look better, but probably could still benefit from a bit more tuning

So I guess the legends size intention brought more challenges than it was worth? Darn. I was really hoping for an iron-factory-esque version of my favorite robot firetruck. Still looking forward to seeing this in whatever form it ends up in, keep up the great work!

    Any plans for Ultra Magnus?

Honestly, one of the reasons its taken so long to complere is because I felt the original joints I designed into the arm and leg transformation were too complex. I took a break but am now revising the engineering with the hopes of making scaling him down more possible. It also allowed me to see the problems with the proportions

As for magnus, I dunno maybe? The problem is his animation model cheats way more than primes, and I wouldn't want to make him just to combine, he would have to be decent on his own which would mandate a lot of reworking of the original design. I guess it will depend upon how satisfied I am with prime in the end. If he comes out well, I could see myself doing magnus some time in the near future

Excellent. I'm happy to see you're back at it. I'm all for measuring twice and cutting once, anything worthwhile takes time. Keep it up!

No, sadly I abandoned it. I was not happy with how the sculpt and proportions came out and went back to the drawing board. I just did not think combined mode had the super robot shapes I was going for, and I couldn't work out how to retro-fit it

It would be good to have the core robot to print

I bet the Haslab would offer plenty of new insight into how to revise the guy and especially how to improve the original magnus? Obviously a 1:1 copy wouldn't fly well and probably wouldn't be what you wanted out of this but maybe it'd be worth reopening the project and mixing what you already designed with their new steps?
