I hit a 40+ mile "Yard Crawl" this weekend. Don't think I even made it through half... By noon I was just too tired to keep going and I still had a long drive home. Found some good stuff though: G1 Grimlock, complete Kickback & Bombshell, complete Laserbeak, Ravage, Frenzy & Rumble, complete Gnaw, stripped G2 Beachcomber 2 Gobots Storm Surge, no key Breakdown, no key Leader Bulkhead, stripped Ani Blackarachnia Robot Hero Hound TF Vader/Death Star TF Anikin Jedi Fighter Slugslinger, no missile Handful of Minicons/Spychangers & Junkers Large pile of GIJoe weapons/accys Blue Plastic Voltron lion Judge Dredd figure, MOC 15 Vintage MOTU figures, all complete Most of Micronauts Bioman & Baron Karza 3 obscure Atari 2600 cartriges Bag o' Legos Mighty Mugs Fett Knight Rider technical specs (looks like promotional material for the show) 2 Large Lots of Bakugan stuff (my son has become a Bakugan freak lately) Total Cost about $66 ($16 of it for the Bakugan lots) Anyone else have any luck?
the only "luck" i've had was a incomplete gi joe terror dome for $6 at a thrift store lol *it actually is MOSTLY complete tough* just none of the canons or towers lol but transformers wise, i go to thrift stores and garage sales all the time, the best i've found was a legends leo prime, rotf jolt, and mcd's toys. when ever i DO find transformers, they are normally, HALF of a transformer. aka missing the heads, arms, legs, torso, or something. but i have had great luck finding other things, like gi joe, he-man, power rangers, *found 3/5's of the original megazord. * a sealed, and signed by the creator, mega bloks. so i have luck with other things, just NOT transformers
This weekend was a bust in terms of TFs, but I got some other stuff (which will be posted in the "Highs and Lows" thread in a little bit. However, the only TF related stuff I found (I got to my usual outdoor flea market too late, so I went to a new indoor one instead) was a seller that obviously knew what they had, which I hate. Now my hate isn't 100% logical, but I'm not going to go to a flea market to pay $130 for a Devastator (The most I've ever brought to a flea market was $20 ).
I've never really had any luck at rummage sales for Transformers.I've done pretty good with Star Wars stuff, but it's fun when you walk up wondering if this could be the one where you hit the motherload.
Man, I've been to about 1000 garage sales and flea markets this summer and haven't found anything, let along a complete Grimlock. Congrats man, I must just be in a bad part of the country for this stuff.
Thanks. Those were kind of bonus as they were in the box with the Transformers and Baron Karza. Only after getting home did I have time to really look at them and notice that they are all in really nice shape with all of their parts.
How is it that you always seem to find G1 stuff? Maybe the long drive? All I ever find is Beast Wars stuff galore.
not too long ago I bought an entire computer box filled with G1 stuff. It had soundwave, starscream, soundwaves minions, all in good condition. It also had a complete G1 devastator, with the only thing missing was one of the little covers on one of the legs.
I'm always jealous of Rework's luck. I've long ago given up on finding anything worthwhile in my neck of the woods, at either garage sales or thrift stores
Interesting... I was just thinking about how the Beast Wars market has seemed to dry up around here....
Found a Classics Bumblebee (minus jet ski & trailer) for $2. Figure is in great shape. One thing I always find in garage sales is the missing limbs thing on many figures (BW on). Ball joints are great for articulation but this causes parts to be lost far more easily then figures without them.
i swear everytime rework trumps my hauls, and they are quite epic indeed, one day i'm gonna beat rework haha
2 weeks ago I found ~ shit ton star wars playsets/vehicles mostly droids and rotj ewok village complete imperial shuttle complete AT AT almost complete jabba the Hutt complete Imperial battle station not complete Hutts torture chamber complete cloud city ship complete AMANAMAN figure missing staff and a BUNCH of other stuff that I can't remember right now (at work) also got a bunch of micromachines and a g1 seaspray minty mint a broken shackwave total cost of star wars stuff = 20.00 the guy wanted 25. but my friend negotiated a more "reasonable" price seaspray shack and micormachines = 3.00
I've been to tons of yard and garage sales and the only toys I ever see are kiddy toys, like for preschoolers. Oh well.
Best thing i ever found was a G2 BB which then the leg broke off 10 minutes later. (T_T) I'm not that lucky.
I recently saw in two different locations with two bins full of Beast Wars stuff. Mostly incomplete bots, nothing I don't ready have.
this past weekend i got a machine wars optimus prime cab for $1 and a sealed msib GI Joe cobra detonator (with nitro viper) **that im selling-trading** that i traded 2 mangoes for
