They're fairly afforadable, have loads of accessories, excellent articulation and detailing, as well as a great variety of characters. I've always wanted a collection of different mecha like Mazinkaiser and Getter Robo, without having to spend out for SoCs. The Revoltech line answers that prayer extremely well.
Well...SOME of them come with loads of accessories. It really depends on the character, some times you're only to get two or three extra hands and nothing else.
i got one, THE PRICE! it we got them at the japanese retail, that would be great! KA, what's the damage in ringgit?
Okie, finally bit the bullet and got me some Revoltech. At first, I wasn't too impress and sort of regretted getting them, but now that I've got some time to play with 'em, they're growing on me. I got Mazinkaiser and Griffon. Pros: - They both look mighty neat, especially Griffon, who is a most schweeeet piece of glossy eye-candy. - Dismemberment. You can pull their segments off and reattach 'em quite firmly. So that lets you tinker with 'em. Not only does it let you give Mazinkaiser his rocket punch ability, but you can swap parts among the various figures. Right now, I've given Griffon, Mazinkaiser's forearms, and I must say, it blends with him quite well. Cons: - There seemed to have been "assembly problems" with both my figs. Mazinkaiser's left hip is more extended than his left. Similarly, Griffon's neck was out of alignment. Although thanks to the detachability, I was able to correct Griffon's neck alignment. Mazinkaiser's hip still sticks out a little though, since his left and right thigh don't seem to have been symmetrically sculpted. - Balance. I'm not using the stands right now, but on their own, they have quite some problem standing flat on their feet. That's not to say they can't stand on their own, but they do require a certain degree of adjustment. In terms of articulation, of course, you can move their bits pretty much any which way. Mazinkaiser's biceps is limited though, which is his main articulation weakness, while Griffon's hips are cut and not revoltech/ball-jointed, so that limits his lover body articulation quite a bit. They're both still very articulated though, just that I wish those parts could have incorporated the revoltech/ball-joint somehow. Overall, both Mazinkaiser and Griffon are better than my first impressions of them. But I would venture to say that their main selling point is that they are relatively affordable, yet quality versions of their respective characters. As toys, display pieces or pieces of engineering, I would actually suggest getting Classics Voyager Optimus Prime first. He's got comparable articulation and other good stuff I'll not go into in this post. That said, these figures are mighty fine and if they're affordable for you, I'd recommend them.
That's the big problem I'm having now too. My griffon doesn't like to stay up even with the stand. He's leaning on a wing now in a craptastic pose cause I gave up trying to get him to stand on his own. He can of course, I just stopped messing with him.
Awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! care to upload that guitar pic so others can give their Convoy an energon axe like that one?
onestock: prime looks awsome with his paper axe now you should try n make a drum kit and mic then you've got one awsome band
It's onesock dammit! Someone called me that in the Fuzzy, and it is now my official Ant-Woodstock concert. Welcome to onestock!
BBTS has pictures of the next two Revoltech EVAs: Unit 02 "Movie Version" - Umbilical cable, heavy lance, progressive knife, extra "shoulderpads" with fake "prog knife storage", display stand. Mass Production Unit, with Wings - No accessories shown other then the wings. They look pretty good based on these pictures...but is it just me, or are the wrist joints on these different from previous Revoltech EVAs? I'm planning to get 4 of the winged Unit 05 (and 5 of the 'battle damaged' when those come out), but undecided on Unit 02 Movie Version. I'm a little concerned about how well the 'winged' MP Units are going to be able to stand (without support) and how securely the wings will attach, given how big they are.
