we should probably merge this with an existing review thread, and just put all review-related items in there.

Several other reviews mentioned boring parts - including one review which listed that an hour could have been cut from the movie. Especially where they stated Optimus doesn't show up until 40 minutes into the movie.

What's the problem watching a long movie? Long movies are usally the best ex. Dark Knight Rises, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Avatar. IMO I love watching long movies if it doesn't bore me out so watching an Transformers film that is 2 hrs and 45 mins with action-pack robot sequences, I don't see how there's so many hate for this one.

TDKR and Avatar are awful though. And the problem is that for it to be 165 minutes there is way too much focus on the humans who most genuinely don't give two fucks about.

This is awesome, I hope we can have a thread for every individual review of the movie.

There's a lot of individual threads for reviews. Shouldn't they just all be in one thread?

    This is true.

I'm really not happy about the runtime. I'm sure I'll like the movie just fine, but there's probably a lot of "fluff." Two hours and forty-five minutes is just a really long time to watch anything unless it's SUPER good. Factoring in previews and wanting to find good seats, I'll be sitting down for three hours straight.

Considering both TDKR and Avatar made billions I'd say you have what's known as a minority opinion.

A lot of his opinions are far too negative and hard to agree with, I presume he knows he's the minority.

No, he has what's known as "the ability to recognize financial success as seperate from actual film quality." The TF movies are huge financial successes, but they're hardly top-teir films (though I was entertained by each one, even the train-wreck that was ROTF, more than Avatra. Ugh)

You can promote the shit out of a movie and pretty much make success a sure thing before a movie's even out. People don't need to like a movie or think it's good to spend money on it. They just need to see it, and the corperations make billions. That's why opening nights are considered so important. Hell, I hated Avatar, but I still spent money on it when I bought it to see if I'd actually hate it.

TDKR did super-great because people were hyped for it after The Dark Knight. There's a sort of delayed effect going on with movie sequels. And as has been stated, there's an insane amount of work and money going into marketing these type of movies, it's really hard for people not to get hyped - even if they did get burned by a previous installment.

Hell, it's happening to me with AoE :lol

It DOES worry me that this movie is even longer than DOTM. Did you see that movie? There's like 12 plots crammed into it, and they could easily have gone with half of them and made a tidier movie. The Chicago battle is where that movie shines (well, mostly...sheesh, that run out Driller scene, what the hell), but frankly, I found it hard to care after having to sit through almost 1,5 hours of antics.

I liked TDKR by the way..... whoooopsie.

I think I would've liked TDKR more if I didn't expect so much. I'm not expecting much with AOE. (I typically don't with these kinds of movies) But I hold movies like TDKR to a much, much higher standard. I can still be better than the TF movies, but I won't like it as much, you know?
