Ok, third time lucky. My apologies as I'm trying to post with a toddler attached to my keyboard. Definitely a self admitted noob.

You think so? I find the new head to be loads more on-screen-accurate. The first movie Starscream toy looks like a hamster who ate a really sour candy.

Don't bother trying to show people how much better the new mold is, people see what they WANT to see, not what is there. This whole thread is proof positive of that, ugh.

The sculpt yeah its more accurate but the paintjob sucks, it makes it looks worse than the old one...

EDIT: oh and now his head also looks like a chicken! Starscream, part ape part chicken :O

He has elbows, GenZhao showed them moving in his video review.

True, true, though they bend backwards, though it may actually be a normal movement for Movie Starscream (hard to say, as I think we've seen him bend them both ways). I've come up with a theory that you might be able to swap the joints, or modify his arms in some way so that his elbows can be bent more "normally". It doesn't look as though the elbow joint does anything important for the transformation into alt-mode, so I don't think a swap or modification would have any affect on that. In theory it works anyways.

GenZhao, is it possible to swap the direction of the hands, by removing them, then replacing them facing the opposite direction? How about swapping the forearm joints, is that possible? This would make for a better appearance for the forearms when bent, so that the guns are on the outside of the forearms as opposed to inside.

Also, what automorph and mech alive features does this figure have?

HUH! so thats what happens when you try to make a toy by knowing what the character will look like instead of constant revisions right up to the deadline.

And people said it wasn't like the '86 movie! Hasbro got to relive the constantly evolving designs while toys were being made for a movie blues AGAIN.

Ok....after watching the video review I retract any and all negative statements and any ideas suggesting the first SS is better.

That video made such a huge difference.

The head actually IS much more accurate, but they really needed to detail the paint to show it...the way it is now isn't very flattering, but a little paint will easily fix that.

My only real problem is the fact that he's smaller!!

That's exactly what i taught as well after seeing the video but people just are determined to see everything so black and white as in if you make one comment on something wrong with it your a hater. Why does everyone have to be sheep and love everything 100%?

Also when he put them side to side, i prefer the definition the older one has, the new one aside looking smaller, looks less detailed in robot mode which is how they probably were able to reduce the thickness of the bot mode.

One thing I was amazed about in the video was the transformation. The transformation was one of the things that sold me on the first movie Screamer, but the way this new one transforms blew me away; I wasn't expecting it to be that different from the first movie Screamer!

Also, it's interesting that Lockheed's 2 most famous stealth aircraft, the SR-71 Blackbird & F-22 Raptor, are in TF2 as Jetfire & Starscream! The military aviation fan inside me hopes that other Lockheed Martin aircraft, such as the F-16 and F-117, receive Transformer figures in the line too! MORE JETS CANNOT HURT!

I've always hated the look of Movie Screamer's bot mode (whether in CG or toy form) ... but watching the transformation in Peaugh's video made my jaw drop. I'm sold on that alone.

And yes, giant Arcee hands sticking out the back FTL. I'm sure there will be plenty of mods for that once the figure ships.

He receives them at the end of Reign of Starscream, IDW's official movie prequel comic.

Wow, that picture comparing the cgi head from the box and the 2 figures makes me kind of not like the new figures head as much. It is technically more accurate, its to tall. Maybe a quik bash will make it better.

It's that horrible paint job that does the new head sculpt disservice.

I'm not so sure, all the details are there for sure, but the sculpt looks disproportionate or somethin, to tall or to thin. I'm not sure if that's on purpose or not, but for all I know it might be for the transformtion..
