So I just got this in the mail as a late Xmas present from a friend of mine. Good lord it's awesome. It's essentially a top loading NES! And it's tiiiiiiiiiiiny! Just a little bigger than a cartridge! And the controllers that come with it are top notch! Too bad I only got one game for it at this time. But hey, Dragon Spirit is my favorite top-down shooter. It's the perfect addition to my old school gaming deck! And yes, that's an Apple ][ monitor. All my pre-HD games look awful on my flatscreen, but look amazing on that little tube.
i got three working NES systems and the top loader nes. which i hear can play famicom games. i dont think ill need that retron console. nice touch of playing a retro game system on a retro t.v.
Just bought an original nes. I only have 3 games so far. Got Mario 1,3 and ninja gaiden. Need to get contra, castlevania, some megaman and other classic Nintendo games.
We have tons of NES clones in Sri Lanka. Usually, almost all games work. I haven't found a game that doesn't work. Clone units are priced at $8 to $30
Is that the Tru one? I heard the wireless controls are not that good. But I rather have a nes or snes...I regret selling my snes years ago
Who else makes them? I'm looking on ebay. Wow nes games are not cheap on ebay. I wonder if a clone is better or getting a 20 year old nes
Not sure how much mine cost since I got it as a present, but looking at Amazon, I'm seeing it for as much as $14. And every game I tried on it works so far.
~$15 to replace or get basically a factory fresh NES? that sounds great. knowing a flea market vendor near here that sells NES carts practically in bulk would make adding to it a breeze. i like this idea.
A local used game shop sells the retron 1 for about 20 dollars. I would prefer spending a little bit more for the retron 3. Retron 3 can play nes, snes and genesis games and comes with wireless controllers but has 6 controller slots the supports 2 controllers for each system. Here a link to amazon for one. http://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-RetroN-System-Charcoal-Nintendo-Entertainment/dp/B003Y5AHPG
Idk I don't own one because I have the original nes and snes and most sega games are easy to find as a digital download.
The consensus with my friends that own the R3 has been pretty positive. Though I hear the controllers that come with it are crap and it's better to just get standard ones. Doubt there's any sort of warrantee, considering it's an unliscensed cheaply manufactured item from China.
