I played MGS3 long time ago via a PC emulator. Never had PS2 before. Of course the emulator was still buggy at the time so played the game and finished it for the sake of the story. Never did any CQC moves coz I was just using a keyboard and didn't bother to explore fully the game. Fast forward today and I played MGS3 HD Edition in my PS3. Now I truly appreciate the game and I'm just only halfway the game after beating The End. Now I know why this is better than the confusing MGS2 gameplay wise - CQC system - Jungle Environment & Camo system. - Using environment against enemies - Destroying their Food Supply house - Throwing them poisoned/rotten food, - Shooting Beehives on top of their head, - Various ways in beating bosses, - catching The End's parrot, - Using Stun Grenades for Stamina Kill rather than MK-22, - difference between Walk vs Stalk, etc. - Too many Easter Egg references to the franchise. - various radio frequencies that can help you like restoring stamina, health etc. - Survival Menu This game deserves multiple playthrough just to unlock EZ Gun and Stealth Camo This game really pushes the limits of the PS2 hardware. Which is Kojima known to do. Sometimes I felt MGS3 is a bit superior MGS4 lifespan of gameplay-wise. I felt disappointed that the Demo Theatre was removed in the HD Edition. MGS3 for me is on my top list of Best Retro Games.
Ok, so last summer I had found a complete copy of MarioKart DoubleDash at a thrift store for $5. I finally got around to hooking up the 'Cube last week. This game is FUN. It has really smooth, fluid controls and gameplay, so 50CC feels more like 100CC in other MarioKart games.
You just listed all the reasons I love MGS3. There's so many different ways to do things, and multiple paths through each area. Did you know you can defeat The Fear (voiced by our G1 toon buddy Michael Bell) easily without even moving from your starting position? It's humorous Sadly, it's the lack of the things you listed that made me so disappointed with MGS4. Not enough sneaking, smaller areas, not much choice or variety in paths (even in the sneaking missions you're basically railroaded through a corridor), uninspired boss battles, annoying missions like Outer Haven or that horrible, horrible "following" one. Sorry for the brief rant. It just annoys me that the greatness of MGS3 devolved into the crap that is much of MGS4.
Wow I didn't know that standing trick vs The Fear. But basing from my battles with The Fear, it's entirely possible you can do that. Your starting point in the battle already give you a clear vantage point near and mid-range. He'll just going rounds. Getting hit by his poisoned arrow is a chore (removing it, applying medicine). Stun Grenades, MK-22 and throwing Poisoned Food when his stamina is low will kill him quickly. I have a poor sight vs Stealth Camos so I resorted using Thermal Goggles. But yeah beating him w/out it will give you a real challenge. I was surprised beating The Pain can be quick and easy via Major Zero's advice. Shotgun (while he's covered of bees), Rifle (when he's dropping the Bee Bomb), MK-22, Stun Grenades combos will do. The End battle was quite a challenge if you don't use Thermal Goggles and relied on AP Sensor and Spotting his Scope Glint. I captured his Parrot and he's damn mad Blowing up enemy supplies warehouses will make them: - complain about haven't ate a food - can't properly aim on you due to hunger - ran out of ammo clips for rifles - and will force them to use handguns - will be forced to eat a spoiled/poisoned food you throw on them and will make make them go gaga. Due to the game's design especially Boss Battle, you're somewhat encouraged to replay the battle again to test new approaches in beating them. It's not kind of boss battle of One & Done method. MGS3 is different. It seems Kojima and his team put too much on this game's programming codes. Resulting in variety of ways to approach this game. Which yeah MGS4 lack of it while being visually superior. MGS3 will give you multiple items/weapons and will encourage you to try them out. While MGS4 give you same multiple list of items, it seems you can't use them all due to the games limiting environments while looking vast yet felt "rail-roded" as you go through. It felt like your playing the various MGS games for the following reasons: - MGS = the hyped behind it. - MGS2 = aftermath of MGS - MGS3 = curiosity about the Dad of the 3 snakes - MGS4 = visual spectacle and end the damn story Take note I haven't played Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain yet. Sad to see Konami utilized Fox Engine for MGS3 in just a Pachinko Game. Just wasted potential for remake title. Capcom nailed it with RE2 remake and there are leaks for RE3 Remake. And Konami is not doing anything? Yet they had time to make Metal Gear FUCKING Survive?
For GameCube? I don't remember those characters but anyways my team was always Bowser Jr and Diddy Kong! IMO my favorite Mario Kart EVERRRR!
It's been so long and I forgot or perhaps I never unlocked them lol. Now I really wanna play it again.
I seem to be in the minority but I hated Double Dash!! The courses were great but the AI cheated every chance it got (e.g. CPU characters getting random speed boosts, getting items without going through an item box, resetting the running order if you go off the track). And while I thought the unique items were novel, I didn't like that they took the triple shells and golden mushrooms out of the universal items. But really, programming a cheap AI is the lazy way out when making a game.
I hated Double Dash as well, worst Mario Kart game by a significant margin IMO and pretty much entirely because of how anti-fun the bullshit AI makes it at anything above 50cc.
Yep, that's how I'd do it. Just stand there, use the thermal goggles to shoot him with the tranq gun, and throw spoiled food all over. It's actually easier to beat him by stamina drain than by the traditional way of reducing his health. Exactly. There's a number of different ways to do everything. I got to the point where I could beat the whole game without killing anybody. Made the segment against The Sorrow hella-easy
I assume 6-year-old games would be considered retro? The most recent Nintendo system of any kind I own is a Wii; never had a 3DS, Wii U, or Switch. I’m considering asking for a 2DS for Christmas (no interest in 3D) and I was doing research on games. Due to not owning recent Nintendo systems, I’m out of touch with many of the popular games for them. So I looked up a review of A Link Between Worlds, which I read is a sequel of sorts to A Link to the Past, one of my favorite games ever. I stopped the review video after 10 seconds because I was already sold. Similar to ALttP? YES PLEASE. Now I just need to figure out if I want a regular 2DS or the XL. My apologies if this is the wrong thread for this.
3DS isn't quite dead yet, but it's last gen and 8 years old so i'm not going to gripe if folks want to talk about it in here.
Hello all, I'm looking for a new book in the style of the Mario and zelda encyclopedias. I've found this one https://www.amazon.com/Super-SNES-F...scsubtag=15e9309e-1b21-4455-9f8e-ea9137f4c5eb As well as these https://www.amazon.com/SNES-Omnibus...J702XVWFCHT&psc=1&refRID=87DEGFY3VYZDWVEEWVMM Any experience with either of these, or suggestions for a better one? I would love suggestions for a sega genesis one as well. Thanks!
lbw is a direct sequel to lttp and equally fantastic. surprised you never tried it if you are a lttp fan.
If you have working binocular vision, I'd recommend at least trying the "New" 3DS before fully committing to the 2DS. It's very much unlike other 3D products, even including older 3DS models. It may not have whatever issues have put you off of 3D. But of course if you still dislike it, then the 2DS is for you.
It's too bad you don't have the console. I bought myself a 2DS a few years ago. I got it because it was cheaper then a 3DS. You can also get numerous remasters of various classic N64 games. I highly reccomend the Ocarina of Time rerelease, which is only about $20 now.
