    Hey all
Got back into TF after about 20 years when the classics line was released, and one thing led to another and I got heavy into Animated

but now, so many doors are closing and I feel the TF love slipping minute by minute

--Classics on hiatus for what looks like 18 months

--TF:Animated cancelled (you know another series will come eventually, but we have a 34% chance of another Unicron trilogy)

-- RotF toys,: back kibble overload, looks like not single decent bot in the bunch, heck they couldn't even get Devastator right

--Skids and Mudflap.....did we learn nothing from Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder?

-- What looks like more lame comedy in "fallen"

You would think I wouldn't be so depressed with a movie coming out soon, but it will be something I see once, then buy on Blue Ray 6 months later, let's just say I don't have a lot of faith in Michal Bay (Skids and Mudflap, really? and bringing back John Turtoro's character?)

So need some help here, give me something, some reason to keep Transformers fresh in my mind past the movie's opening day

Well it really depends on what you are looking for from the franchise. The TF franchise is so large you can pick and choose what to focus on, if you didn't like the first movie don't go see the new one. if the animated version doesn't suit your taste focus on other series (if you like them). If nothing is to your liking I suggest you move on because you may be burned out or something else may be more to your liking.

Cancelled, but we're still getting all the planned Season 3 toys, as Hasbro revealed at Botcon.

Look at Leader Prime. there's your decent bot. there's your bot that's essentially an underpriced masterpiece figure.

Hell, I hated the first movie line, but I've already got 14 of the ROTF figures. I love them.

Don't judge the characters until you've seen the movie.

    Join the crowd, friend.

Movie puts Hasbro in some sort of cryogenic freeze state...nothing else matters to them, so all we can do is deal with it.

Dunno how much of it was Hasbro's decision, but CN fail-decisions never cease to amaze me.

All one can do is grit yer teeth and bear it when in the theater, but fear not for we all have fast forward buttons on our DVD players!

I agree that Turturro's character return was a mistake but I don't think the ****** Twins was necessarily Bay's call. I think that had more to do with Spielberg's obsessive need for "lovable" characters.

Sorry bud, but I don't have anything. Buy the movie toys you can tolerate, piss on the ones you can't. There's still some little bits of hope left in there will be yet some reissues and decent Universe toys out there so maybe the line can limp along until Hasbro kills it altogether or actually gets to being creative with it.

I swear I feel like I'm the only person who liked Turturros character (Simmons.) He's actually a very amusing character, and he will highly redeem himself in the new movie.

Actually I find him more interesting then pretty much all the other humans in the story, he's a good actor and he brings a very unique color to the movie.

    ________

Sideswipe and Sideways are awesome bots, and Leader Prime looks amazing.

    ________

Last but not least, TF's are not a religion, it's a strange thing to ask strangers to restore your ''faith.'' They're toys and cartoons, you like them or you don't. It's up to you.

Take a break and collect something else for a while.

It's what I did while Animated was running, and I came back refreshed and ready to dive into the movie toys.

Think of it as a time off so that we can get new molds. Hopefully classics/Universe 3.0 will have fewer repaints/refreshes of Cybertron figures to fill out the ranks.

As mentioned, take the time to round out your Animated collection if you haven't already, getting those figures that you'd like to, but haven't gotten around to them yet, and look forward to new ones, like Arcee and Wingblade Prime.

As to the new series, well, let's just say I'll freely admit that I have my reservations about Hasbro being able to create a series that was (IMHO) such a perfect series as Animated.

Personal opinion: I loathe the movie aesthetic (And the film franchise both in part and as a whole). I regreted both movie 1 purchases I made. However, I did get one ROTF figure, and it may be my only one, but I'm very pleased with Ransack. Some of the other Scouts look pretty good as well.

Why bother purchasing it for repeat/home viewing if you don't like it? I never got the first film in any medium, nor do I ever intend to. I'll see ROTF in the theatres, since it'll only be $4.00, but after that, I plan on essentially forgetting it happened.

As mentioned, you have a lot of options. You can take a break altogether, maybe focus on another franchise you're interested in. You can go back and pick up figures from older lines that you passed on for one reason or another. You can watch older series that you did like on DVD like Animated. Given the "open" nature of the internet, you can find series that you never saw and watch those, perhaps Headmasters, Armada, Superlink, or Galaxy Force? Wait, you mentioned you were out of the TF's from G1 until Classics. Watch Beast Wars and Beast Machines.

Transformers is like life, or marriage - you're not always going to like everything about it. Its not really about 'faith'...its about weathering the downtimes, and having faith that eventually something will come along again that you like. So you have to find whatever works for you to get through the low points.

You can leave, you can hang around for news you want to see, you can do back-collecting/filling in holes, etc. Or toss in the hat completely, sell everything, and go collect rocks or something. Whatever works.

After reading your broad generalization of the movie toys, I'm forced to wonder how much of a fan you really are. To be honest, ROTF Prime is one of the best figures ever, and Sideswipe is awesome. There are a few good toys in EVERY TF line, hell I LOATHED Energon, but found it had some really good molds (loved the Fattimus Prime combiner, Starscream.)

If you really hate the movie that much, you can't tell me you have every toy you'd like from every continuity.

    No.

If you don't like it then spend your time and money on something other than Transformers for a while.

Try looking into some older lines or different robot toylines all togerther. Mugenbine, Robotech, or any of the Brave Series. There not Transformers but they may feed your addiction until something else comes from Transformers. This idea is working for me right now.

You haven't been around long enough to realize how good you have it.

Except Beast Machines, the cycle has always been the same. Old toyline cancelled, new toyline announced. Much bemoaning loss of old line, criticizing new. New line comes out, is much better than expected, most fans come around. Line reaches conclusion, cycle begins anew.

I've been hearing a lot about that lately. What exactly is that? A toy line? A cartoon? I think I am going to be taking a hiatus from TFs for a while as it seems its going to be all movie all the time, so I'd love to hear what other prossible franchises could whet my thirst.

EDIT: Nevermind. It looks kinda like you just put together robots and alt modes. Not really transforming per se.

There IS a slight difference to the cycle this time around, though, as this is the first time since G1 cartoon where a cartoon has been cut off before it has reached its natural end-point, and its storyline has not been allowed to see itself through to completion.

I know your boat far too well. Classics is what really brought me back to buying Transformers after I had been out of it since Beast Wars. I don't hate the movie toys, but they just don't appeal to me. Given some of the spoilers I might even skip the new film.

But at least we have a date now when Universe will return so that keeps me going. It's going to be a while before Hasbro has it's network up and going but that also keeps me going. Always a slight chance a Cybertron, Classic or Universe toy getting repainted into the movie line so that keeps me going. Also the chance we might end up with some figure like Wreckage that ends up as enough of a blend of the movie and more traditional looks to make it appealing to me.

Okay and I'm just down right evil because the reaction of some people when everyone doesn't love the movie or the action figures is just priceless.

If I need a toy fix I've started collecting the Marvel 4" figures so I've got something to collect until new Transformers toys start appealing to me again.
