Hi there. I've been collecting these for uh... my son, since he was way little. So, I had to jump at the chance to pick up the latest offerings for him.

From my 3 year old sons perspective - He likes the bigger, rescue vehicles better. He plays with the original eight more than these three Rescan releases. Always asking me to come "Zoom" them with him.

    Now, on to my thoughts:

Heatwave here is a smaller Rescue Bot release at the same price point as the previous larger Rescue Bots. He has less paint apps than his predecessor. However, he does have a more Toon-accurate head. Transformation is similar to the first "Generation" of Rescue Bots. Push the sirens on the police boat and his legs will separate, the arms will push out and the front of the boat will tip back to reveal the robot head.

I fully expected these to be the same size as the previous ones, so I was a little taken back when I picked them up in store.

Oh, one more thing, the little turrets in boat mode can swivel. That's about it for articulation :)

Should you pick this guy up? If you have a little one at home, sure! He's very easy to transform. For an adult collector? Only if you're a completionist or adult fan of the show/line in general.

I got Boatwave (had an excuse after he gained the mode in the cartoon) I like the compact design, the auto-transformation, and the more cartoon-inspired looks. The price isn't too bad either. It's comparable to what the larger Rescue Bots were when they first came out, and cheaper than the re-releases are now. The feel is 'lighter' - it doesn't seem like something a kid will break easily, but it's not the solid chunky feel of the older Rescue Bots.

Within the bounds of their intended design goals, I like RB HeatBoat. I can't help but think there's enough Rescue Bots goodwill in the fandom that one or more Generations toys of RB characters might go over quite well.
