It will be nice to see what ppl come up with, so far it looks like there are 3 ppl doing this new head. I actually like both versions, the Japanese headmaster(G1 toy) as well as the G1 cartoon. I wouldn't be against getting both if they look nice.
Because . . . . . . . . of this. Hasbro is ok with kitbashers reproing parts that are not currently in usage. Fun Publications commissions certain things from Hasbro, and has made it clear that they do not want those things recasted, etc. TFW2005.com wants to respect and honor those wishes. It's nearly the same as when Fun Pub has exclusive content for their publications and specifically asks the fan sites not to reproduce those and upload them. Also, I don't want to see one of you guys getting into such trouble.
Where is the red face-plated head from? Excellent work all around, guys. I think it's great that we're getting different takes. Gives potential buyers some options.
It's from the Energon Quickstrike figure. I like the transforming gimmick (if my build allows it, I'll do something similar). As for the Quickstrike head, I'm not really feeling it. Just personal preference though. I like the other flip side (Universe Sunstreaker?). I'm using a mix of different heads and parts, then maybe some styrene and putty. Still doing some work, but I'll get some WIP shots up tomorrow sometime
that's really good. how much does it cost to 3d print and make dupes of? also, do you get to play with and test the functionality of a 3D design, so to ensure it will work once "printed"?
looking awesome Macraptron, one thing I'd recommend if planning to eventually cast these is shortening up those spikes on the sides, they might end up too fragile, as well as stick out too high when the head's "in" the chest cavity.
I am really liking how this is going! I wonder who is going to make duplicates of these cause I would like to get one for my punch/counterpunch.
EPIC! I can see actually using the heads (filling the other with putty) for various customs too... *scratches chin.. hrm.... I can't wait to see these!
So how does this shapeways ordering thing work? You order a part that someone else designs and they "print" it for you? They keep all the stuff people send them in a database? How's the quality? I've heard that 3-D printed parts are rough as hell and aren't suited for use without a lot of finishing work.
With the helmet off, Counterpunch looks like Stevie Wonder! Looking good, MACARAPTRON, although I agree with F/R that the "horns" could be shortened a bit.
Oh, I wasn't knocking it, it looks amazing so far. Just stating my personal preference on the horn length. If it comes down to it, it seems like trimming the horns myself after getting the head would be a relatively easy mod. Either way, I'm seeing a lot of good stuff happening here. Can't wait to see how all of these turn out!
have you measure the box in the middle of the body where the head resides? I would imagine that head would get stuck midway when transforming him.
