Before anyone says "do a search", I did and found nothing to removing chrome plating.

I'm thinking about removing the Gold Plating from the parts of YOTH Optimus Prime before painting them...

I've heard that using oven cleaner will take it off, but wondered if that's been proven or if there is another/better solution to remove the gold without harming the plastic.

Most any degreaser should work, my degreaser if choice is Purple Power.

I've used "easy off" oven cleaner before, but I've heard good things about purple power.

How long have you soaked with purple power? I just bought some at walmart and plan to work on it tonight.

Generally about 24 to 48 hours and then it just wipes off fairly easy. I also prefer PP since it has way less fumes then sprays and can be reused and recycled after you are done soaking.
