So, Flint Dille was at TFCon and apparently talked to some people, and this just showed up on his facebook page.

    Flint Dille
It's not the worst idea I've ever heard. The animation and the voice acting already exists, so that's half the cost there already done. You could restore it down the the original animation cells, load it in a computer, clean it up, color correct it, add dynamic lighting and new sound effects and music. While the quality of animation would never be on par with, say, TF:TM, it would certainly be a welcome addition.

Independent movies have worked really well for the DCAU. This would be an excellent way for Hasbro to break into that home market.

Plus, it would give Masterpiece a toy commercial to advertise for.

Just a few thoughts. It would be great if the ball actually gets tolling on this. Flint still has some clout, so all he needs is the go-ahead from Hasbro.

That sounds like an awesome idea! I've always thought Five Faces of Darkness was a better 'movie' than the actual movie, so I welcome the idea of editing it into an actual movie. I love the idea of adding musical sequences, to make it fit with the first one.

Did he mean interruptive or interpretive?

Umm...wouldn't this pretty much be like the so-called Pokemon movie, I Choose You?

I don't have any strong feelings about this I guess.

OMG i'm definitely down for G1 animation getting some love! ESPECIALLY if it involves correcting infamous Studio Akom errors!

Huh. Yeah, I'd watch that. Though, if we're going to do that with FFOD, I'd like to see them tweak TF:TM as well and release them as a fixed/remastered boxset that's worthy of our money. Heck, even bring back the scene with the Conehead dying.

I agree. If we're spending a bit on new animation, and animation fixes, then I say go ahead an add/correct a few scenes. If you're going to Star Wars '97 it, then go all the way. I want to see Thrust get his. I also want to see that additional scene where Megatron commands Bruticus and Menasaur to go kill Omega Supreme at the Ark. And maybe Shockwave eating it. :(

But yeah, I'm down for this. The Fathom release of the movie made more in one night than it did in all of 1986. They could totally release it theatrically as a double feature.

Sounds great to me. I've mused a few times on this board about if it might be possible to use today's technology to correct G1 eps.

Correcting AKOM's numerous coloration errors would be fairly simple, but fixing the actual animation would be a major process, with AKOM having given us a big, smelly pile of excrement to try to mold into something presentable. I'm a little unclear if Flint was implying that it would be an official Hasbro undertaking or a fan project, but if it's a fan project, I'd be more than happy to help out on the audio side.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Though I prefer the late season 3 audio to the movie score. Late season 3 sounded more alien and out there than than the movie score.

FFoD would essentially have to be reanimated in full.

And while we're at it, we could lose some of the Blurr/Wheelie nonsense.

The story was never that bad but the animation was abysmal...so I'd only get excited about this if it was completely reanimated from scratch.

Remastering the movie was involved enough, and they still ended up with errors. The HD version looks great, but the movie already looked amazing even before the remaster. Trying to remaster and fix something like FFoD that was cheaply made for TV would be considerably more difficult.

Color correcting is one thing. But some of the FFOD errors are things like a tiny Bruticus hanging out with the Combaticons or Rumble the size of Soundwave. Those are the kind of thing that need edited.

    I was wondering that myself.

Almost of all season 3's animation was horrid except for Call of the Primitives and 75% of Return Of Optimus Prime. I'd be for Five Faces of Darkeness to be redone and I would also like to see Dark Awakening redone as well.

I welcomed that, the mini movie/special FFD has to be ones of the most hard to find episodes from G1

I completely agree. Burden Hardest to Bear and Dweller in the Depths were pretty good too.

Misleading title is misleading. There not a single thing said by Dille that remotely suggests it is or even could be "coming". At all. He clearly knows about cut scenes that we don't, and stated that HE would one day like to possibly see a remastered/fixed version happen that includes the cut scenes AND new music added. Haha that's a far cry from what the thread headline is suggesting. ;)

That said, I personally think the idea is FAR more involved and elaborate than would make any fiscal sense. I really can't/don't see it happening, online petitions or memes or not.
