I think the reason she is avoiding you is because she doesn't want the rumours to heat up again. The less you two talk or are seen together, the better she will feel. It makes her feel more secure.

Don't make a move on her until you break up with her boyfriend. The lend her a shoulder to cry on, then make your move. If you make your move too soon, she might get offended.

you know, I was in the same boat. I never said anything, began dating someone else.... and all of a sudden... I got the call...

"Can you come over..... I'm single"

Of course this was at 2am and I was asleep with my new GF so I couldn't exactly leave. Anyhow.... Are you in the friendship zone? maybe but your in prime striking distance! Just don't put all your eggs in one basket because you never know if she will come around to you.

You should hint that you have feelings for her, don't go all "i want to have babies with you tomorrow" but something suddle.
