Just curious as to what on the figures are signs of the mold degradation mentioned on the wiki. Is it primarily Snap Trap who's suffering, as I've heard people have had trouble standing him (whether this is robot mode, turtle mode, or when combined isn't clear) or are all the members affected? And could a simple swap-out with a vintage mold fix these problems?
It might be an issue with his (tiny little) heel spurs being looser than the original. Not having handled the original, I couldn't say. No other signs of mold degredation I can find. The mold still looks crisp. The mold is extremely backheavy, though. Putting his weapons in his hands, though, provides an effective counterbalance, and he stands easily.
I didn't even know Snap Trap had heel spurs until you mentioned it and checked on the junker I just bought. So the backheaviness is the explanation for this pic? Image iranacontimelinestoy.jpg - Transformers Wiki
What's wrong in that pic? I find Piranacon tips forward a bit, as a result of the heavy-ass Targetmaster gun. He'll topple standing on carpet, but he's fine on hard surfaces.
The only problem I've seen is that the TFCC version had inconsistent peg sizes. the foot pads and the fists most notably don't have the same size pegs, and the holes on the limbs are only sized right for one or the other. I don't know if the BBTS reissue has this same problem or not, if it does, be ready to break out some sandpaper and superglue/clear nail polish, or the plastic will stress.
I know that Snap Traps hands wont hold his weapon at all. I had to take the original ones and "squeeze" them into both holes. Now the new ones will work. Standing him in turtle mode is off. Other than that he's fine.
I've had no problems with the BBTS reissue in that regard. The only thing being off on mine was the 5mm part of Overbite's main gun handle. It's just a tad too small, so it's rather loose when mounted under his beast mode chin. The peg for weapon mode, however, was fine. Everything else connects solidly and tightly, with no signs of stress marks.
Hmm, maybe I'll go back on my decision and grab the BBTS Piranacon then. I've got the TFCC version, but I find that everytime I take it out, I have to fix some more of the holes/pegs
