Reinforcements from Cybertron! From the history of Transformers, from Diaclone, from the Marvel comics, from a 1986 TF:TM movie trailer, from the pages of More Than Meets The Eye. Just last week I was complaining about the volume of Transformers toys I’d picked up, and not one day after that article was published, I had a number of boxes delivered together. Add to that a trip to Toys R Us fuelled by pub-meet enablement and here we are with the above motley crew. My local group of Transformers collectors have a lot to answer for, actually… Reinforcements | Source Blog <- CLICK TO READ All the best Maz
I really need to see Nautica before I cave and buy Blurr. The mold looks so fun! And I completely skipped Wave 2 (where are you Apeface?) so I'm getting the itch again.
I'm strangely intrigued by Bisk... Odd considering my last 15 or so toy purchases have been Takara Masterpieces
I'd get Bisk but I stick to a Warriors only RID shelf so I'm impatiently waiting for my preorder on Amazon to fill (alongside Ratchet & Scatterspike). Nice pics by the way Maz! (as usual) Really wish I could afford Blaster, everyones pics make me super jealous. And after having him for only a few minutes I feel TR Frenzy (Rumble) is my favorite use of the mold, just didn't have a connection to Rewind. The only reason I got Rewind was in case I got Blaster and so I have a Rewind on my CHUG shelf thats better than the crappy tank mold that came out a few years back.
Bisk really is an engineering marvel, and I'm totally not kidding. I bought a 3 step Bumblebee ages ago and he was OK, but not particularly standout and in fact most of the 3 steps just seem like bigger One Steps. But 3 Step Bisk is in a class of his own. Who knew eh? And the thing is, Bisk will never be in my display, because he'll always be in my hands.
There were some topics on the RID onesteps last year. I mentioned in there amongst peoples disgust at the onesteps that they try the first (there are 2 now) onestep Strongarm. Seriously impressive engineering and very addictive transformation/action, exactly as you describe for Bisk. I even mentioned it when a guy asked which tf he should reverse engineer for his project. Seriously RID onestep Strongarm the 1st is a must if you can track it down. I guess with Bisk you can drop him down to split him then spin him round and up to complete all in one general motion and that is the appeal. I can see that.
It really is just one of those you have to handle yourself and experience to understand what people are raving about. I will admit the amount of surprise involved has added to my appreciation. Once it's built up to be 'toy of the year', your mileage may vary Many kind thanks, mate! Excellently put, and that's such a wonderful gif! Another utterly wonderful figure I never would have appreciated had I not been forced to handle it! All the best Maz
Love the pics, Maz!!! Mostly cause that Bisk was an unexpected inclusion. And you know what? ORANGE. That's what. I recently realized how much I like that color - it's incredibly rare. Name more than 2 orange things. You can't. Because orange doesn't occur very often. So automatically, Bisk looks brilliant among the group of (presumably) superior toys. But so sad to see Delta Magnus get put aside! You know I instantly thought of you (and your Diaclone love) when they announced him!
Cheers dude, greatly appreciated! Orange is also the first colour the human eye picks out, isn't it? Hence safety jackets etc... Bisk is just amazing. Been playing with it all day today again. I just can't walk into the room and not head straight for it, and my daughter's mad for him too. Bisk does not recognise those other toys' superiority! Hehe Delta will get his spotlight, it;s just a mess here at the moment prepping for freight shipment abroad and so I am getting newer toys back into their packaging as soon as possible. I was SO excited when he was announced, it was supposed ot be a watershed moment, just timing was off I guess. All the best Maz
Yeah, kind of funny how "Too much, too soon" became so instantly apropos. But that (and this) article really resonated with me, as it talks about a phenomenon we don't acknowledge enough: when we buy more toys than we can reasonably appreciate/open. Just the idea that we should take more time to appreciate individual purchases... yeah, too true. Although, to be fair, I've pretty much committed to buying and spending more than previous years because of Hasbro's revisit to HMs! Oh, and pretty impressive to move your clan to Iceland like that! I love going to new places, so I'm definitely a little envious of your grand adventure! The other half of me is incredibly anxious at the thought of boxing up my life and leaving a country! Good luck with your new career and exotic homestead!
