You're here because you read the issue already. If not, you were warned there would be spoilers in the topic title.

I may have been disappointed by the last three issues but I found the pay off in this issue to be satisfying. This issue was full and fast paced.

Some people may dislike that Springer and Ratchet died in this issue. Ratchet's death was expected and it was only fitting that Kup was the one to pull the trigger. Springer's death was pointless but I feel it serves as a statement from Furman that he won't be focusing on the Wreckers in later issues. The Wreckers were the focus of the first quarter but the remainder will consist of other characters. Which is how I want it. I do want some fall out in the next issue because of the events from this issue. I want Prime to actually acknowledge Springer's death.

The battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron was... good. The thing that bothered me was Optimus Prime unwilling to kill Megatron. I find him selfish in that respect, more concerned about his morals than actually getting the job done. The Autobots don't want a perfect figurehead to live up to, they want the war to be over and that no more Autobots have to die because of Megatron. Thankfully Prime put aside his emotions and killed Megatron once and for all. It would have been disappointing if he had let Megatron go yet again.

Looking forward to the next arc - Galvatron, Scorponok and Grimlock. Sadly Scorponok did not see fit to give Grimlock a new looking body, instead just creating one that looked like Grimlock's old body. I would have liked something different or his G2 colors.

My introduction to Transformers was the '86 movie, and as such I'm really fond of the cast that was introduced in that film. So Springer dying like a bitch made me cringe. It served it's purpose to get Megatron's point across I guess, I just sort of wish it could have been any of the other Wreckers. Still, what's done is done. It was nice to get a Prime vs Megatron battle as those don't seem to happen much anymore in any TF media. Was nice to also get an explanation as to how Megatron had surgical know how. To be honest, at this point I'm more excited about post-85 issues. Megatron has been a recurring character in all of the different TF universes, it'll be nice to see the return of Galvatron and Scorponok.

I thought this issue was actually really great. A lot of things were finally concluded - Megatron's 5 issue run is now over (as far as we know). The Megatron/Ratchet story is finally, FINALLY, over. The Wreckers are done with (thankfully, was getting tired of it), and I think we may be done with "Circuit Smasher" for the time being ... until Galvatron makes his presence known. So happy to see the big G back in action. Thought the way Furman wrote him was the absolute best way anyone has ever written him - so I truly hope that 20 years later Furman hasn't lost the touch that made THIS Galvatron *THE* Galvatron I adore.

    Some questions though.

    1) Scorponok.

Okay, he's back. I hope there's an explanation behind it, like somehow some of his "personality component" or part of his mind was stored in one of Zarak's labs and thus Scorponok existed in two places at once (as Scorponok became less and less Scorponok and more and more Zarak back in the 60's and 70's). If this is going to be the "no Zarak" Scorponok then I truly hope it's explained and that he's badass. Already disliking it though because I suddenly am getting horrible flashbacks to "Maximum Dinobots" and what Furman had going on with Scorponok there (I R MAD SCIENTIST HAR HAR HAR).

    2) Galvatron

Is it just irony that he woke up as soon as Megatron died?

    3) Thunderwing

Why the hell do the Autobots have his body in some sort of tomb? What freakin' purpose does that serve, AT ALL?

    4) Starscream

Since Megatron left Starscream with a bit of his own mind, just with the Megatron/Ratchet controlled barricade, does that mean Starscream is now free and Starscream again? Or is he dead like the others?

    Good, good issue.

Scorponok is back because his head remained on Nebulos which contains his true personality. This is Scorponok without any of Zarak's influence.

I swear, The fight between Optimus and Megatron honestly felt like the fight they had in the 86 movie, just them beating the crap out each other, except Hot Rod wasn't ANYWHERE in sight.

I just finished reading the issue. I have a feeling of satisfaction that I have felt has been somewhat lacking until this issue. In my opinion this is the best issue since the relaunch.

    They mention a Matrix reservior.

Is it possible that they're hoping to extract some remnants of Matrix essence in his body? Could be that they're hoping it's not tainted

Kind of a cop out that he's using such an OBSCURE wording from the Headmasters series that the Nebulans transform in to heads that "resemble" their original heads. And the Marvel UK went a step further with Fortress Maximus.

I do not like it. Scorponok became good thanks to the Nebulan influence of Zarak and died a hero. This "The Original Scorponok Whose Head Stayed On Nebulous And No One Ever Thought To Go Back And Check On It Ever" storyline is lame.

I didn't feel as 'satisfied' as others here, but can't really put my finger on exactly why. I actually preferred the Op/Meg battle that Furman wrote in Escalation over this.

Nonetheless, nice to see this arc wrapped up, and great to see Galvatron back, too.

Best Regeneration story yet, but it still pales in comparison to the first 12 issues of the Marvel run.

I liked this issue, quite a bit, but I was really waiting for one more nasty sting. I think I liked my idea that Buster was mixed up in this whole Auntie business a little too much for my own good. Honestly, Circuit Breaker's powers vs. the Ark was always going to be a one-sided, predictable battle. She gave Unicron a headache for gods' sake (heh).

Also, the Ratchet/Megatron story, while powerful in its own way, was very predictable. About the only surprise was just how brutal the panel where he's getting shot is. And we didn't get any wrap-up with Starscream, guess he just dropped even deader like the rest.

I like the way you put that! Agreed!

There's no way. Despite the fact that this is Galvatron II, Furman is showing us that there is still a mystical link between Galvatron and Megatron. How do I know that, you ask?

Because Galvatron has the same hole in his chest that Prime just punched into Megatron's.

Anyway, I'm hoping that the whole point of having Scorponok, Thunderwing(?), and Galvatron all in the story is to have them live long enough to slam full-tilt into each other trying to claim rulership of the Decepticons. And I kind of hope that Soundwave winds up on top when the smoke clears, AGAIN. :lol

I've found that the lamest set ups have lead to some of the best comic story lines, so I'm willing to forgive it. I do agree with you, though.

Or what happened to Shockwave, wouldn't count Screamer out just yet though.

Hard to say,in the original run FortMax grabbed a hand full of Galvatron's chest before sinking him in the lake.

Glad optimus prime did not stoop to megatron's level. To kill him in rage would have given megatron the ultimate victory. In the end, megatron won psychologically, prime has to live with the guilt of what happened to earth.

I just reread the headmaster mini series recently and budiansky's scorponok was a bad ass. He did not care about anything or anyone and treated the nebulans like crap. Zarak's influence changed him emotionally and I don't know if that was by design when furman wrote him but it was a natural progression.

I am ready for bad ass scorponok to make a reappearance. The plotline of the heads seems believable. The nebulans got too curious and it came back to bite them.

What is the first panel with the crack in space about?

I think it was Galvatron seeing the crack in the ice as he was waking up. Probably has something to do with the link between him and Megatron.

    About F'n time too.
It was so gratifying to see his hand around Megs' spark chamber... even more so to see Megs' eyes go dark.

Of course they had to do that lame-brained "stoop to your level" non-sense... would have been refreshing to see OP say something like "finishing you like the animal you are isn't stooping to your level; I am Optimus Prime- I have been and forever will always be above you. Now die.".

Bell - yes, it certainly was gratifying to see Prime do that to Megs. When i saw that i was cheering like crazy.

Although the dead eyes in the next frame almost look like Meg doing puppy dog eyes. :)

I'm glad Prime won. It wouldn't make a lot of sense if he didn't seeing as how he's taken down bigger fish than Megs in this continuity.
