As Red Wing never made it to Canada, and getting it was way overpriced form eBay and insanely priced (at 200$) off Amazon, while being impossible to get from Target without the Red Card thing, I found that the only option left to get one at a fair price, was to make one...

So during a sale, I picked up a StarScream for 32$ (CAN) and went for it.

I felt that trying to dismantle it was way too much efforts so I simply worked slowly, being very precise, over about a week's worth of a few hours a night.

With a pallette of the basic red, black and silver, using Tamiya paint that aside the white being much thicker and difficult to work with, these colours were a delight. The paint being very liquid, very opaque, and that really stuck to the figure, I ended up finding this a very fun experience... a bit challenging in some moments, but the results are simply more than just amazing.

Compared to the official version (OV), looking at a LOT of picture to try and replicate the patterns, I found that the red I used was richer, with none of the orange tint the OV has. Then choosing silver for the top shoulder/neck area also came out amazingly well and fix the colour scheme of the figure better.

So after a week, I was done, and after I did a few transformations to ensure that it would work, the paint was fully dried, and the more I play and look at it, the more I'm happy with the result and actually glad that I didn't get the OV after all. (as I also don't like the smirk face that looks more like the figure had a stroke than anything else).

Thanks, the one amazing thing with this figure was that it did allow to be done as such, as many others wouldn't have come close to being this "flexible", but the articulation of this guy is simply that good.

...my wife had a stroke, the smirk sculpt looks worse!..

    (she’d laugh - humor’s a great healer)

...great work; full paint jobs are very challenging to execute successfully...

Update: I retouched it today, using black wash, I made the silver into more of a gunmetal looks to it I realy wanted the weapons to stand out more, so I added details... and a few changes for the wings for the tetra mode.
