Ive been wanting to recreate this Hound concept art for forever! I figured something from gunpla would be good to start with since i havent seen any 3P with something similair within the forseeable future, but i dont really have any knowledge on gunpla kits. Would someone with experience mind giving me any recommendations on what i can use as a base to try and kitbash him?

Do you want him to be able to transform?

Probably not lol. If only so it'll be easier on me, but also I want be as accurate to his bot form concept as possible. But if I have to make him transformable to keep the tires and kibble I will try

Like I said I don't know a lot about gunpla, but I'm assuming trying to mishmash different kits to get his look down probably won't lend itself to transforming very well. I also have no idea if gunpla actually can transform. But if they can, and that's the only way to get to-scale bits like tires to fit correctly like in the image I'll try. Does that make sense?

I just don't get why it could be neccessary for him to be able transform to make him scale well. Gunplas as far as I can tell are usually Deluxe to Voyager sized (14 to 18 cm tall in robot mode). Some can transform but mostly into jet-like alt modes and as they don't intend to be "in disguise" most of the time they have visible-head-syndrom and legs just hanging out of their backs for propulsion.
I'd for example like to make a transformable Bulkhead out of HG Gusion but I have no idea how to pull that off because especially this one is very voluptuous and originally doesn't transform.

Actually i was mostly being facetious when I said it wouldn't transform very well, I'm not expecting it to ;)

Looks like quite the ambitious project! As far as Gunpla kits are concerned, my first question would be what size you want your Hound, as Gunpla kits come in a variety of scales.

Hm maybe about masterpiece size(7-8 inches)? If they do come that big. I don't mind working at other scales if that's not feasible

So in that case, I'd go with Master Grade Gunpla kits. They're fairly big and relatively inexpensive. Here's a couple that may help:

Ooo yeah those look really good! I can see different parts of them really working. I actually think the Jesta Cannon is probably closer Thank you!
