Not sure if a thread like this has already been done, but are there any Classics Decepticons that just stand out as can't miss, must have recommendations for purchase?

I'm lookin at my shelf and thinking the bad guys could use 2 or 3 new bodies to even out the ranks. So name one, or your top five, any size, specific deco, whatever.

I realize that some will prioritize botmode over alt, or best all around. So it will be interesting to see which figs/molds come out on top.

    Thanks in advance!

Universe Onslaught, Generations Waspinator, RTS Lugnut, Generations Armada Starscream, and FOC Seeker mold all come to mind. Those guys are definitely must-haves in my book.

If you don't mind mixing in some lines of questionable Classics-ness into the mix, then also take a look at ROTF Lockdown and Bludgeon, WFC Megatron, and HFTD Hailstorm.

    IMO

Universe Cyclonus (IMO the clear winner)

    Universe Onslaught
    Classics Seekers
Classics Astrotrain (the best Decep triple changer. At least hes stable and has normal arms)

Gen. Thunderwing (small, and simple tf sequence but still cool)

    Gen Darkmount aka Straxus

ROTF Bludgeon (a bit movie esque but still a great figure)

Gen. Dreadwing (alt mode fits him more than Megs imo. Nice colors)

Universe Darkwind(Repaint of silverbolt. Simple but great bot mode. Colors are nice)

HftD Terradive. (Does he count? He's just a sweet Jet imo)

    I...just, no.

Soundwave is ok, though many say the deluxe is better. And I love blitzy but many don't. The other two (6) are just really bad.

Classic seeker model, any version, is about as good as it gets. Next up is Scourge and Cyclonus. Then you've got astrotrain and maybe nerf/henkei Megs.

And I really dig gen armada screamer but he isn't really classics.

    Universe Cyclonus (any version)
    Generations Scourge
Coneheads (hell, I think everyone needs all 6 seekers)
    Universe Darkwind (with Renderform kit)
    TFCC Runabout/Runamuck

Edit: 3rd Party groups have really helped me round out my Cons.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Right now I think I am leaning towards Darkwind, Lugnut and maybe Straxus or Skullgrin at the moment.

I should have clarified more by saying that I am more interested in the mold's articulation/pose-ability than anything else. How are the articulation on those three molds?

^ Darkwind's is not very good. Lugnut's is great, if unconventional due to his shape (much more to do with his arms than his legs).

Straxus is well-articulated, but top-heavy with crappy feet, so that holds back extreme posing just slightly.

Dang, that hurts to hear about Darkwind. I was just about to pull the trigger on him and his Renderform upgrade.

Does anything in particular stand out about him being "not very good", because I have been reading up on reviews of the mold (Silverbolt, mainly) and the knock seems to be on his simplistic transformation & "bot under a plane" altmode. Seems that reviewers didn't really have any knocks against his articulation.

Thanks again for the comments, and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Generations Sky/Black Shadow and Dark of the Moon Space Case are some of my personal favorites. They're nice redecos of Generations Thunderwing and HFTD Terradive, so you might want to check them out.

So I've decided to grab Dark Skyfire, even though I've heard that the combo of his back pack and feet make him unstable, I don't own the mold and his paint scheme just looks too bad to pass up. Anyone care to comment on his articulation?

Also trying to grab Renderform upgraded Darkwind. Not sure how different the head sculpt is between the first and second release. Is one much better than the other?

Finally, I'm torn between the Straxus mold (probably going with Skullgrin), and Lugnut. Will more than likely end up grabbing both.

Thanks for all the help and comments. Much appreciated!

I have Dark Jetfire. He's a lot better without his backpack and helmet. paint job is spectacular and articulation isn't terrible. He has full rotation at shoulders, his arms can hinge out. 90 degree elbows and knees. Full hip movement. Wrist swivel. No bicep swivel or waist. Head has some articulation.

I use him, DE Wheeljack, and FoC Soundblaster as MAD SCIENCE! Decepticon force.
