Right now I'm considering getting a G1 Octane, Astrotrain, Megatron or Hot Rod. Recommend some other G1 figures to me, if you would.

What sorts of toys do you like? Based on the info so far you seem to like triple changers. So get the best one, Blitzwing.

Yeah, if you're a multi-changer lover, Sixshot would be a good addition as well.

Assume unlimited budget for now, I want to know the best that G1 has to offer, especially the stuff that's not obvious.

And add one other thing to my wishlist: Roadbuster. I love me some Takatoku engineering.

I'd say Shockwave needs to be in your collection. He is a lazer-gun with actual working lights and sounds and a huge robot that actually looks like his g1 character. Him and Megatron are 2 of my favorites. If you like the cars though, I'd say wheeljack is the #1 best must-have.

Great choice on Roadbuster, he's often overlooked because he's not in the cartoon. I'd add Whirl, Shockwave and Jetfire for some of the best engineering in G1. Victory Saber as well.

Any combiner really. I think Devastator is the most unique since he is 6 bots instead of the normal 5 combo. Sixshot is another amazing piece. The cassette bots are always cool too. Lately, I am really enjoying the 87-89 era of TFs. I could go on and on :D

    Unlimited budget... AWESOME! :thumb

I would definitely recommend buying them all... Seriously!

First, start off with the 84 line and go from there.

If specific order of when they were released is not important to you, I would go for the harder to find figures or the figures that appeal to you the most.

Here's a list of my personal favorites...

    1. Optimus Prime
    2. Megatron
    3. Soundwave
    4. Shockwave
    5. Devastator
    6. Predaking
    7. Prowl
    8. Mirage
    9. Jetfire
    10. Roadbuster

Yup, this list can go on forever...

With an unlimited budget... Start big and go for a Fortress Maximus and get all the bots that have a city mode. :thumb

Some of my favorites, assuming unlimited budget:

    - Thunderwing
    - Technobots
    - Powermaster Optimus Prime
    - Scorponok
    - Snapdragon
    - Sixshot
    - Doubledealer
    - Soundwave + Cassettes
    - Megatron
    - Seacons - If you're not picky about getting vintage, the BBTS reissue can be picked up fairly cheap.

While it's not one of my top favorites, I'd also suggest the upcoming reissue of Devastator, since it's a decent figure.

Already got it, though not the G1 figure. The Bandai re-release of the mold as a Macross figure.

Would you guys recommend Victory Leo without Star Saber?

Pounce and Wingspan. I can't explain why but they are just cool figures. As well, the stunticons. Evil race cars rule!

I would recommend getting Grimlock. Can't go wrong with a dinobot, especially the best one.

Is Grimlock worth getting if I already have MP and Animated Grimmy? Seems kind of redundant at this point.

Well, I say that, but I can't get enough of the VF-19.

    The way I see it...

You gotta have G1... Everything else is secondary in my book.

It's always great to have the originals that started it all, so adding a G1 Grimlock is not redundant at all.

As for Star Saber & Victory Leo... YES & YES! :thumb

    I unhesitatingly recommend the following:

    Apeface
    Darkwing
    Doubledealer
    Dreadwind
    Optimus Prime (Powermaster)
    Overlord
    Predacons/Predaking
    Scorponok
    Seacons/Piranacon
    Shockwave
    Sixshot
    Snapdragon
    Soundblaster + cassettes
    Thunderwing

Doubledealer. He's great, multiple bot modes and a Powermaster gimmick.

Megatron/Optimus well rounded characters with the fairly good molds. One of those.
